Kemmangundli Hills in Central Karanataka is a nice forest covered hill-station near Chikmagalur
Kemmangundi is a Hillstation north of Chikmagalur. You can reach Lingadahalli from Chikamaglur (1 Hr) by 9:00am morning and then take a 9:30AM local bus from Lingadahalli to Kemmangudi (about 1 hour ride). The bus goes thru some very scenic and green hill roads, passing many local villages and finally climbing up to the Kemnmangundli Hills through thick vegetation and forests.

The bus I took from Lingadahalli to Kemmangudli on 19th April 2008, broke down some 6-Kms short of Kemmangundli.
A local social worker on a mobike gave me short lift uphill for another 1km; and showed me the short-cut Trail that leads upto Kemmangundli village huts and then further up to the Horticulture Dept's Forest Guest Houses. The shortcut saved me 5-6 kms of walk on the regular bus route, but in the process I by-passed the Kemmangundli bus-stand and arrived directly at the Horticulture's Resort.

The Rest House appears ... there are many cottages on many levels on the hillside & a basic canteen serving Thali meals.
