Day-9 Dec-28 : Pinau - Lohajung 13Kms - And end of Trek

After breakfast we started trek at 8:00am. Its a long walk of 14Kms to Lohajung. Initial two hours was pretty easy as we were just going more or less level on the mountain-side opposite Pinau. It was long loop to cross a water stream and then along 2-3 ridge folds of the mountains.

Looking Back towards our Pinau GH (Click on the Image to enlarge and see the white label arrow-pointer)

In fact we could see the Pinau GH all the way and it was only at 10:00am after 2.5 hours of walk! that we reached the last turn before Pinau disappeared. A picture taken from there is already shown above with GH labelled. From the same point looking ahead we could now see Lohajung on top of the saddle ridge opposite. And some 300M below Lohajung ridge-top we could see the many houses of the largish Bang village.

Bang village seen below Lohajung on top of Ridge opposite

It appeared deceptively close from here; but we reached Lohajung after 6 hours of trek from here . We had to go a long way down from here to cross the river far below. And then climb up steeply past Bang village. At 4pm we finally reached Lohajung market square and the nearby GMVN Guest House there.

Lohajung GMVN

It was relief to sleep on comfortable dorm beds of the GMVN. As mentioned already was too tired to consider even the revise short-plan for Kuari Pass and so dropped that. Next day Debu and party left by the early morning 6:00am bus to Baijnath and then to Bageshwar. After lunch I caught the noon departure "citybus" to Karnaprayag.

On my way back, is I stayed 1 night at GMVN's wonderful "Ganga Resort" on the bank of Ganges river in Rishikesh (in Kailash Nagar, Muni Ki Reti area).

Rishikesh

GMVN Ganga Resort at Rishkesh - where I stayed 1 night

When I arrived there without booking I found no Rooms were available; but I got a dormitory bed for Rs120/- and found myself all alone in a huge 8-bed room, with huge bay windows facing the Ganges River!!!

FYI: The regular DBL rooms in this Resort cost approximately Rs 1250/- for NAC and Rs 2500/- for AC. The resort location is wonderful with view of Ganges from its front Lobby and river facing rooms.
