27th may 2006 - 8:00am After breakfast checked out of Tashi Deleg Hotel and walked upto the Jeep stand on main road. After a wait of 45 minutes got a share-Sumo leaving for Manali at 9;10am. The road condition was pretty bad all the way to Rohtang and so the ride was pretty rough.

Rogtang-La full of tourists

We passed Rohtang-La at 2:00pm in the afternoon. It was full of tourists from Manali, come up to see and play in the snow. Many of the Indians from far corners of India, must be seeing the snow for the first time in their lives! So naturally there was lot of excitement & noise and a festive atmosphere in the whole area. Our Sumo crawled along for the 3-4 Kms before we could get past teh crowds and parked line of jeeps & cars.
