19th May --> Day-12 Trek Kharte to Puiyan (2805M)

We left Kharte at 6:35AM climbing steeply towards Khari-La. It was very cloudy and covered in Mist when we reached the Pass at 9:00AM. There was 1-2 Taehouses there but we didn't see anyone around. there was goat sitting in front of the Goat shed ...so I guess the owner must be around gone away on some errand nearby. We rested a few minutes and continued trek. Now we were going downhill steeply and around 10AM joined the main trail that goes to Puiyan. I have been there at this junction a couple of times and seen the signpost saying"Arun Valley" or "Mera Peak" pointing to the way we had come. The trail from here to Puiyan was slushy with rain water, mud and mule-shit. It was terrible to walk there.

The Truss bridge where we cross over to the main side of Puiyan

We crossed the Bridge of Puiyan stream at 10:50AM and walked all teh way up and beyond the main Lodges (like Bee Hive that I had stayed earlier) and decided to stay in Everest Guest House right next and above the Health Post (11:30AM). It was decent GH and had Tongba and Dal-Bhat lunch there at 1:00PM. Looked like lots of Lukla flights are cancelled due to weather, as many tourists were walking down to Salleri.

20th May --> Day-13 Trek Puiyan (2805M) to Lukla

Got up early at Puiyan. The Day looked sunny at 6:00AM. And some snow peaks were lit up with early morning sunrise.

We left Puiyan at 6:30AM to go to Lukla. The trail was slushy and bad . We continued anyway and at 8:45AM reached the nice lodge (forgot the name) from where you get the first view of Lukla airport. On a sunny morning, you can see a stream of small aircrafts coming in, every five minutes to land at Lukla.

The Surkey stream crossing bridge ahead (10:40AM )

We then started going down steeply to Surkey (10:40AM) and continued on to the junction (11:15AM) where you start the steep climb up to Lukla airport.At around 1:00PM reached the top flat ground of Lukla.

Reached the Lukla top ... Airport just to left of here in 5 minutes.

Though my flight ticket was for next day, we went straight to the airport to see if I can get on any flight today. They said yes and even I got the boarding pass and checked in my bag for a late flight around 4:00PM.

Settled accounts with Dawa and thanked him with a Bonus-Tip and said good bye to him. He said he will head down to Salleri and catch a Jeep or Bus from there to his village Bhotebas, beyond Khandbari in the Makalu BC route.

But as luck would have it, by the time my flight came in the weather turned bad and it got cancelled. I got reassigned to next day 'sflight and had to carry my bag out at 4:30PM . Found a very nice GH " Himalaya Lodge" just a little way up from the airport gate. It was great hotel with atmospheric inside Dining hall and rooms and a great front Lawn with nice views.

I shot two short videos of the Himalayan Lodge ... see at Links below:
