1. Overview
REDCAST is a global emergency alert utility app designed to help users stay informed about real-time hazards worldwide. The app may provide:
Live Alert Feed — real-time aggregation from 11 official government APIs (auto-refresh every 30 seconds)
Push Notifications — local device notifications for new critical events
TTS Voice Announcements — optional voice readout for CRITICAL-level alerts
Alert Details — tap any alert to see source, severity, coordinates, affected area, and official description
Watch Regions — filter alerts by country/region
Severity Filter — set minimum alert level (CRITICAL / SEVERE / MODERATE / ALL)
Alert History — browse and filter past events stored locally on your device
Dual Filter System — filter history by source and severity simultaneously
Settings links — Emergency Telegram Channel, Privacy Policy, social channels, developer/app collection links, and version info
REDCAST is designed to minimize data collection. All alert history and preferences are stored locally on your device. REDCAST does not require an account.
2. Data We Collect
REDCAST is designed to collect as little data as possible.
A. Data We DO NOT Collect (by Team EXCITING)
Team EXCITING does not collect or store the following on its own servers by default:
Personal information (name, phone number, address, etc.)
Photos, videos, contacts, SMS, or call logs
Audio recordings (TTS is output only — the app does not record)
Browsing history
Uploaded files or user-generated cloud content
Device identifiers such as IMEI or MAC address
Precise location history stored on Team EXCITING servers
Alert viewing history or notification interaction logs
No Server by Default: REDCAST currently has no Team EXCITING server for storing your personal data. All core features run locally on your device.
B. Data Stored Locally on Your Device (On-Device Only)
REDCAST may store the following information locally via SharedPreferences to operate the app and improve your experience:
Alert history (up to 300 recent events)
Watched regions and severity filter preferences
Notification sound and TTS settings
Seen alert IDs (for deduplication — prevents duplicate notifications)
App preferences (e.g., minimum alert level)
This data remains on your device. Team EXCITING does not have access to this data. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data.
C. Third-Party Data Processing (Optional / If Enabled)
1) Outbound API Requests (Alert Data)
REDCAST makes outbound HTTP requests to the following 11 public government APIs to retrieve alert data:
Source
Country/Region
Data Type
USGS Earthquake Hazards
Global

NOAA / NWS
United States
Weather alerts
GDACS (UN)
Global
Multi-hazard disasters

Canada NAAD
Canada
National emergency alerts
GeoNet NZ
New Zealand
Earthquakes & volcanoes
NOAA Tsunami TWC
Pacific/Atlantic

BOM Australia

Disaster activations
These requests do not include personal identifying information. However, standard network metadata (e.g., your IP address) may be visible to those API providers under their own terms and policies.
2) External Links (Settings)
If you tap links (Telegram Emergency Channel, Privacy Policy page, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Our Apps), your device opens third-party services. Those services may collect data under their own policies (e.g., IP address, device info, account data if you log in). Team EXCITING does not control their data practices.
3) Advertising SDK (AdMob — Only If Ads Are Enabled)
If REDCAST is distributed as a free, ad-supported version, it may use Google AdMob. In that case, Google may process identifiers such as the Advertising ID (AAID on Android / IDFA on iOS) and related device information for ad delivery and measurement.
Important clarifications:
Team EXCITING does not collect or store your device ID/advertising identifier on its own servers.
Advertising identifiers are processed by Google (AdMob) for ad delivery and related functions.
You can reset or limit your Advertising ID through your device settings (OS-dependent).
4) Analytics / Crash Reporting (If Added Later)
If third-party analytics or crash reporting SDKs are added in the future, they may collect limited technical data such as device model, OS version, app version, crash logs, and approximate usage patterns. Any such integration will be disclosed in an updated policy.
3. Required Permissions & Purpose
Permissions may vary by OS and app version. REDCAST requests only what is needed for core features.
Internet Access (Required) REDCAST requires internet access to:
Notifications REDCAST may request notification permission to:
You can disable notifications at any time in device settings. Note that disabling notifications means you will not receive real-time alert pushes.
Text-to-Speech (TTS Engine) REDCAST uses the device's built-in TTS engine to:
TTS is output only. REDCAST does not record audio.
4. App Behavior & Expectations
REDCAST's alert coverage and delivery may vary depending on:
third-party API availability, latency, and update frequency
device network connectivity and background app restrictions
OS-level notification suppression (e.g., battery optimization, Do Not Disturb)
government source data quality and regional coverage
REDCAST does not guarantee:
that all active emergencies in your area will be captured or displayed
real-time delivery in all network or device conditions
that push notifications will be delivered in every scenario
uninterrupted operation across all devices and OS versions
Always follow official local emergency instructions. REDCAST is a supplementary awareness tool only.
5. How Your Data is Processed
On-Device Processing All alert history, filter preferences, and settings are stored locally on your device via SharedPreferences.
No Server Storage by Team EXCITING (by default)
Team EXCITING has: ❌ no account system ❌ no cloud backups ❌ no remote logs of your alert history or preferences ❌ no storage of personal data on Team EXCITING servers (by default)
Third-Party API Providers Alert data is fetched from 11 public government APIs. Those providers process network requests under their own terms and policies.
Third-Party Destinations If you open external links, those third parties process data under their own policies.
6. Security Measures
REDCAST relies on platform protections such as:
sandboxed app storage (SharedPreferences)
permission-based access controls
OS-level security updates
For best safety, users should:
7. Your Rights & Choices
You may:
remove all local data by uninstalling the app
disable push notifications in device settings (alert feed still works, but no push delivery)
disable or reset Advertising ID (if ads are enabled) via system settings
opt out of ad personalization via device settings (OS-dependent)
8. Disclaimer
REDCAST is an emergency awareness utility. Team EXCITING is not responsible for:
missed, delayed, or inaccurate alerts due to third-party API conditions
decisions made based on app-provided alert information
third-party service or platform changes (e.g., API deprecations, external site behavior)
device performance changes (battery, heat, responsiveness) that may vary by device/OS
any harm, loss, or damage resulting from reliance on REDCAST data
In any emergency, always contact local emergency services (911, 112, or your national equivalent) immediately. Use of REDCAST is at your own risk.
9. Privacy Policy Updates
This policy may be updated due to:
legal or regulatory changes
feature additions or removals
third-party service updates (e.g., APIs added, ads/analytics integrated or removed)
The updated revision date will be shown above. Continued use of REDCAST indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
