This is my gridded Self Portrait that I made using black charcoal, white charcoal, different shades of pencil and some white ink. I chose to use this picture to draw because I thought that If I were to smile, it would be hard to draw the lines on my face but I didn't want a complete straight face. I also wanted to draw my hat because I've never drawn a hat before and thought that the patriots logo would be cool. As you can see, there are shadows and highlights that were made with a tortillon that had extra graphite left behind and white charcoal. When drawing the eyes, I started to have a hard time and I remember Ms. Medsker saying that if there was a part that is difficult to change it into something different like for example make it look like it got torn out. I wanted to have the eye shape and color it black, then have black ink dripping out. My inspiration was from my favorite artist Billie Eilish because she had a music video where blank ink was seeping out of her eyes. After awhile, I thought about it and decided I wanted this drawing to look as much like me as it could, so I didn't do that idea. I love how this turned out, but I wish I could fix my neck. I accidentally used a darker pencil than I wanted and it became super dark. I later tried to erase as much as I could but there were still marks left behind. Other than that, I'm completely satisfied with my outcome and think it looks pretty accurate.
