Still Life
This is my observational still life drawing where I drew my shoe, white Nike Air Force 1's. I made this using only a pencil, and put one of my shoes on a tower of binders, and began to draw. My process was to draw out a rough outline of the shoe, clean it up and make it more accurate and precise, then start going into detail. I started by drawing each section at a time, and I first focused on the left side of the shoe and worked my way in. I was using a lighter pencil at the time and then transitioned into a darker one. Once I got the basic shapes down of the shoe, I worked my way into adding the stitching, and shading. I mostly used a tortillon as well as my fingers for the leather effect, and my intention was to add those "dirty" spots on my real shoe to the drawing to make it seem more realistic. I believe this is by far the most realistic drawing I made because I spent a lot of time with detail to make the drawing as accurate as it could be. I also decided to zoom in my composition a little bit instead of drawing the whole show, and this helped me look at the smaller details because the reference itself was smaller. I'm really happy with how this turned out, especially because these pairs of shoes are one of my everyday essentials so being able to replicate it accurately was a huge success for me. I believe this was my third draft since my first one was the full shoe and I didn't like how it looked, and the second one looked a little disproportioned. The final product I am very happy with and I think it looks very accurate.
