Love Mountains
This is my sustained investigation and my question was, "How can I use colors in landscapes to demonstrate how I feel?" When I began my artwork, I was feeling in love. I was thinking about my friends that I adore dearly, my family that I missed a ton since I was at school, my celebrity crushes, etc. That was the theme for this painting and I tried to demonstrate love by using different shades of pink because when I think of love, I immediately think of pink. I used one of my favorite medias, acrylic paint to make this piece of artwork and didn't have much of a plan. I just knew I wanted a sunset and clouds, and the mountains were a last minute idea. I decided to make them darker pink because mountains in general are pretty dark, and I topped it off with white snow. I used lots of blending in the sunsets, clouds, and mountains, and textured the clouds by layering shades of white and pink on top of each other to give them a "fluffy" look. After I felt like I was complete, I went around the room asking my classmates what they think my emotion was when painting this painting, and most of them said "dreamy," and after I told them I was trying to represent love, they suggested to add hearts. I already painted stars around the sky, so I added hearts too and quickly traced them with a hot pink pen to make the hearts more bold. I'm not too sure what my next steps could be because I felt I accomplished a lot with a very unfinished idea that I created when I first started my painting. I could try to find a way to incorporate the meaning/emotion, "love" into my painting to really emphasize my idea.
