Blind Contour

Colorful Neon Night

This is my Blind Contour drawing. This setting is a color neon night hence the neon colors. My drawing was made with colored pencil, sharpie, and highlighters. At first, I really wanted this drawing to be representational but it was super hard with all the different weird sharpie shapes all over the paper. I just started to color each little shape and just let my creativity flow, it's very abstract which has always been something hard for me to do. I've always struggled with making my art abstract but I'm super happy with the way this turned out. I knew I didn't want to leave any white because I wanted this piece to have lots of colors. I couldn't choose If I wanted the background to be neon curves or ombre triangles so, I did both. I feel like this piece has lots of grouping with all the shapes and how they are grouped. The triangles are grouped, the ovals are grouped and the shapes in the "face" looking drawing is grouped. This piece evolved when Mrs. Medsker wanted us to draw our face, our friends face and our hand on a paper without looking. If you look closely, you could see those drawings in my piece. I had no idea what I was going to draw so all I did was make shapes and it just evolved from here. Someone thing did get revised was I was going to make everything the same pattern. Either every shape was ombred, every shape had lines inside them or every shape was just solid color but that changed because I thought that was going to be boring if everything was the same, so the shapes are grouped. There isn't really a meaning in my piece, but it is super colorful as you can tell. I guess you could say this relates to my life since this piece pops out with color, and it shows that I won't ever make anything bland, simple and boring. I'm super happy with how this turned out because of the new techniques I used and I wouldn't change anything about it.
