Zoomed in Nails

6 x 10

Colored Pencil

This is one of my time capsule drawings where I drew a zoomed-in part of my nails. I paint my nails very often, usually a different design or style each week, and this week I went with a colorful abstract look with swirls and curvy lines. When I thought about drawing in a zoomed-in part of myself, my nails were the first idea that came to my head. I feel like the designs on my nails are one part out of the many ways that I am able to express myself. I used colored pencils for this piece and referenced off of my left hand, which was resting on a table. I tried my best to replicate the design on my nails as well as all the creases on my fingers, I wanted to add the highlights and shadows which is why I used darker pencils and lighter pencils to draw them. I'm really happy with how this came out because they look very similar to my nails in real life, and I think I did a good job with blending techniques since I don't use colored pencils too often.

Past Wall Decor

5 x 9

Marker and Pen

This is one of my time capsule drawings where I drew an evil eye wall decor piece that hangs in my zoom. I made this with a marker and pen. Ever since I was younger, I've always worn an evil eye whether it was a necklace or bracelet, and I've always had some type of evil eye decor in my house. This one in my room is one of the few that I've had before in the past and the evil eye symbol in general means a lot to me because it's a part of my culture and it's one thing that's grown with me as I've grown too. I referenced this drawing directly from my wall and focused mostly on the bright color that it brings to my room. The blue is a very bright deep blue and it's one of the first things I see when I walk into my room. Although this is something that represents my past, I see it also as a figure that'll be with me in the future too, but when I think of the past, I think of the evil eye symbol in general since it's been with me for so long.

Future Flowers

5 x 9

This is one of my time capsule drawings where I drew flowers in a vase using graphite. The day I made this drawing, I actually went to the grocery store to get a few things and decided to get some flowers for my mom. She was super happy to get them because she loves flowers and there's no one who gets them for her anymore, so I wanted to get some for her. I thought about my gesture later and thought about me being in her place when I'm older. I hope I have a daughter who gets me flowers too because I want to be a mom when I'm older or a loving husband who surprises me like I surprised my mom. I focused mostly on shading and highlights as I usually don't use just graphite on drawings, but I wanted to try out something different.
