Acrylic Paint

This is my 5th Sustained Investigation where I painted my house using acrylic paint. My inquiry question is "How can I use color and texture to concentrate on the emotions of landscapes?" For this piece, I used bright and warm colors to portray the happiness and comfort my house brings to me. I went for a different approach and put the painting in perspective of me sitting in my car, just arriving at my house because this is an everyday event that happens, especially right after school where I'm drained and the feeling of happiness rushes to my body the second I see that I am home. The colors I used for the house and outside were bright and have a warm tone to highlight the warmth and comfort I have at home as its contrast with the more dark and bland car interior, showing that my unemotional dark self is in the car and I'm being introduced to my happy spot. I focused on the highlights, shadows, and blending on both the scenery and the car to make the painting more realistic and easier to see what my idea was, and I think I showed that clearly by showing only half of the steering wheel, including some of the cars on the side and a bit of the front mirror at the top. In real life, the trees at my house arent as bright or full as they are in the painting, but I did this because without the trees, the house looked very isolated and didn't portray the comfort of happiness I wanted, and I believe clutter of trees brought that in. More of my detail is on the house rather than the car because that's the composition I was mainly focusing on for this project and I'm very happy with how it turned out. If I were to fix this project, I would darken the car for a stronger contrast between the scenery and try to add more color to the house such as using yellow because I think yellow is a happy color, but overall the project was executed the way I wanted it to be. I'm happy I chose to use acrylic paint because it helps me focus more on detail to create a stronger painting and I will be using this material more in the future.
