Acrylic Paint
This is my 15th Sustained Investigation where I made a painting in a collage design inspired by the year 2020, adding symbols based on events that have happened. I used acrylic paint for this piece since I feel the strongest material I use is acrylic paint because I provide the most detail and I personally like the look. I also used printed paper pieces of important article headings that are also inspired by the events I had added to the painting. I first started my idea on having a 2020 collage because I thought about this being my last sustained investigation and I looked back on my past works to inspire an idea for my last painting, and then I thought why not wrap up my sustained investigation with a wrap up of the year 2020. I went online and looked at timelines of the year and wrote down the topics I wanted to include in the piece and then started mapping them out on the paper. I included Kobe Byrant's death, the BLM movement (with George Floyd and Breonna Taylor as well), the California wildfires, RBGs death, Covid-19, Chadwick Boseman's death, Trump, Biden-Harris, and Tik Tok. There are definitely more topics I could've incorporated into my pieces but these ones stood out to me most which is why I wanted to include them, and I'm really happy with how this turned out. I think this is a good representation on the year as well as it looks clean because I spent a lot of time with details, and it also has a personal connection to myself. I don't think I would change anything other than possibly making the background color darker because it is a really pale purple that can't really be seen on camera.
