Rainbow on a Rainy Day

9x11

Acrylic Paint

This is my Donate Life design where I painted a rainbow on a rainy day. The top is suppose to be more gloomy hence the bland colors, and as it progresses down the paper, the colors get brighter. I painted a bright rainbow on a clear green hill with pink fluffy clouds because I feel like that gives it a happier vibe overall. I've been using watercolor and/or colored pencil for most of my artwork this year, and so I decided to use acrylic paint. I also wanted the colors to be bolder and brighter and thought acrylic paint would give it that effect. My phrase represents exactly what my painting is showing, "Be the Rainbow on someones rainy day, Consider Organ and Tissue Donation." I originally was going to have a hospital bed at the end of the rainbow, but I thought that would mess up the composition and look a little bit odd, so last minute I decided not to paint it on. I forgot how long acrylic paint took to dry, and that it needs more than one coat which I'm not used to because watercolor dries quick and doesn't need a lot of quotes. If I was able to extend my painting, I'd try to add a few more coats of paint to the rainbow to make them brighter, and try to neaten up the letters in the words a bit. I would also try to bolden some of the composition by outlining it so it looks neater overall but I'm not mad with how the painting turned out. Although it's more on the simpler side, it's not jumbled up with random things and it came out neatly.
