Artist Inspired

This is my artist inspired project which is a dress that dissolves in a pond with lily pads. I used glue and Flora Craft grated fake snow (which is made out of styrofoam) to make the sculpture and acrylic paint for the painting. I also used gold sticker paper for the outline/"frame." I first was inspired by Jean Honore Fragonard which was my assigned artist for my artist inspired project. When I was researching his artwork, I saw one of his pieces called "The Swing" which a woman was on a swing with a pastel peach colored victorian dress. I thought it was really pretty and knew I wanted to incorporate it with my artwork. One artist I know is Claude Monet, and this is because one of his lily pad paintings are in my dining room which I love. My sister also really likes that painting (she even got a tattoo of it) and the colors were super pretty. I kept thinking, how can I incorporate both of those artworks in my piece? Then, Ms. Medsker mentioned what we could do for our projects like paintings, collage, and sculpture. I've never made a sculpture before and I felt that would be the best option for my piece. I used pastel acrylic paint since that's what Fragonard used, and I also decided to add a gold rococo frame since my assigned art movement was the Rococo Art movement. Originally, I was just going to have the dress and the pond, but then when Ms. Medsker saw my artwork, she showed me a sculpture called "The Swing (After Fragonard)" by Yinka Shonibare where the head was beheaded since, in the French Revolution, they beheaded people. I thought that was really cool, and decided to add a neck. I am really proud of this project and feel it is the best one I have ever made because I've never used acrylic paint or made a sculpture for an art assignment, and I thought I did a great job. I had a vision in my mind, and It came to life.
