Pure Contour + Pattern

The setting of my piece is a little mix. I have an ocean typed setting at the bottom with the lobster tail and the top is a light house restaurant with a big lobster on it, followed by a parked jeep and two signs. This was my first time using watercolor, and I also used pen to outline my objects and also colored pen to add pattern. I wasn't really sure what I was going to do at first, but when I picked up the lobster, I knew I wanted to do a Maine related scene. As you can see, there are a lot of patterns which include scales, triangles, circles, mandala designs, lines, and rectangles. I wanted to add lots of patterns to really make this piece pop, but I didn't want to do just one pattern which is why I chose a lot of different ones. At first, my idea was to have another lobster in the "ocean" so there would be two, the profile view and the side view, but that idea soon changed when the restaurant "Taste of Maine" struck my head with the huge inflatable lobster on the top of the restaurant. I also was going to make an actually looking restaurant, but when I think of Maine, I think of a lighthouse. That is pretty much the meaning behind the artwork to it kind of tells a story and honestly I don't think I would change anything. I am beyond happy with how this turned out and it was so so fun to make.
