I Have A Dream

This is my First Sustained Investigation inspired by Martin Luther Kings Speech, "I Have a Dream" in 1963. For my Sustained Investigation, I have decided to focus on political events, and I felt like this was an important statement during The Civil Rights Movement. I've been interested in politics for a while and never made any art related to the subject, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do so. I wanted to try out watercolor and improve my skills with this media, and I also used black pen to identify any lines that needed them. I used watercolor pencils and various sized brushes. I had a hard time with the water color pencils and wished that I could've used a pallet instead, but I'm happy with how the colors turned out. At first, I just had a blank blue background, but I thought it looked plain and I wanted to add something to it. I decided to write down a few of MLK's quotes. I personally don't like my handwriting, so I wish I spent more time on these quotes to make them neater. I think my next steps could be to add more detail to MLK, the crowd, the stand, and overall.
