Comments: I chose the components and the computer was assembled by Suomen ohjelmistotyö (SOT), Tampere, Finland. I have upgraded some of the components. This was my main computer from October 2001 to February 2006. I gave this computer to my friend as a Linux PC in 2010.

Hardware

Case: MaxPoint Miditower, ATX.

Power supply: Silver Power SP-400P1B, 400 W.

Motherboard: ABIT KT7A-RAID, VIA KT133A, Socket A, RAID

- BIOS ID: 3R (used for update info, BIOS date for 3R is July 5th, 2001)

- support: AMD Athlon 700MHz - 1.2GHz or future Socket A processors based on 200MHz/266MHz

- three 168-pin DIMM slots (up to 1.5 GB RAM): DIMM1, DIMM2, DIMM3

- four IDE slots: IDE1, IDE2, IDE3, IDE4

- 512 MB GDDR2 memory, 64-bit memory bus, 400 MHz RAMDACs, AGP 4x/8x, VGA, DVI-I, S-video out, DirectX 10.1

Sound card: Sound Blaster Live! Player 5.1, PCI slot.

Network adapter: A-Link NA110HR (10/100 MB, based on Realtek chipset), PCI

- note: don't apply the update suggested by Windows Update or you get into problems

Optical drive: LG GH22 Super Multi DVD Rewriter 22x, IDE slot

Operating system: Fedora 13 Desktop Edition (GNOME 2), 32-bit (Linux)

- note: first I needed to use MS-DOS 6 to format the hard drive

- Fedora 15 LXDE 32-bit: where is Update function (maybe you need to do it manually)?

- Fedora 15 Xfce 32-bit: too small fonts, erratic behavior with mouse and keyboard

Printing software: HP Linux Imaging and Printing (HPLIP) 3.

- my settings: 1152 x 864 pixels, True Color (32 bit), Refresh Frequency: 85 Hz

Monitor: LG Flatron 995FT, 19"

- information: size 19", type CRT, resolution 1600 x 1200 (UXGA), ratio 4:3, refresh rate 85 Hz, dot pitch 0.24 mm

- my settings: brightness 40/100, contrast 60/100

- notes about VGA: 4:3 ratio. 640 x 480 (VGA), 800 x 600 (SVGA), 1024 x 768 (XGA), 1152 x 864 (XGA+), 1280 x 1024 (SXGA), 1400 x 1050 (SXGA+), 1600 x 1200 (UXGA), 2048 x 1536 (QXGA)
