-ssevora-
(Sneeple is actually seen as an offensive term by the Serpent folk, but other races are lazy like that OTL) There are three common variations of these creatures: Desert, Forest, and Caves. The Caves variant are by far the most intelligent and organized, capable of complex ideas, teamwork, and even building simple tools and shelter. A large group is called a ‘colony’ and each colony appoints a leader, typically a female one for they are considered to be the most spiritually strong. Biologically, this variant possesses corrosive spit, glowing scales they use to communicate with in the dark, and fins they can use to fan out and look imposing.
The desert variant are scattered and dislike unity. The species hides in the sands and jumps out at those that stray too close, and their shovel like claws can easily propel them through the sand. They have four feelers they use to sense vibrations from travelers, which is something they heavily rely on since their sight is actually very poor. Attacking them and eating them is not advised since their blood is filled to the brim with venom, and doing so will make the person very sick. They’re intelligent enough to talk in a rather broken way, but overall they are not to be trusted and are very feral.
The forest variants are often seen as parasites. They’re your typical tricksters and loners, but sometimes they will band together if they have the same target. They have the ability to grow a plant called snakeweed, which produces beautiful flowers at the cost of wrapping around other plants and stealing the nutrients. They make these plants as a way to mark territory, for the snakeweed of one forest serpent could look vastly different than another’s. They are only usually found in plains and forests, but most have died off with the absence of the latter. Still ,they are a bit of a threat to plant-heavy biomes, and with their venomous bite and devious ways, are not pleasant company at all.
