Kip is a young and brash quetzal sekir on a quest to free demons, clean forests, and make her dad proud.
Personality
Kip is headstrong and impulsive, often rushing into things before thinking about them. Her new friend doesn't really help with that. She's also highly confident of her own skills and abilities, and takes pride in her strength and adopted heritage. Besides all that, she often takes what comes in life in stride, not worrying about whether or not she'll be able to handle it because of course she will. She has simple desires and tends to be content with what she has, but like other sekir, likes to travel and see new things.
Abilities and Powers
Kip, like other sekir, has tracking magic. Her only attunement at this time is to be able to sense life signs around her, primarily for the detection of prey. She hasn't learned very advanced tracking magic other than that because Zeke knows nothing about it, but she's learned a little bit from other sekir the times that they've met traveling in the Mire. She's compensated for this with an in-depth knowledge of astronomy and the skill to navigate using it, and tends to be able to find her way to wherever she wants to go.
Kip is a very large sekir, standing more than six feet tall when you include her feather crest, and is very strong and agile for one, too. She can say honestly that she's fought a lion and won, and she has the claws to prove it. Kip is not particularly smart, but she does make up for this by being a very hard worker.
Relationships
Zeke
It's daddy! Kip loves this crab so, so much, and not just because he helped her survive her infancy. She looks up to him, she wants to be like him, and she'll always listen to what he has to say. One of her main goals in life is to make this crab proud of her.
Yantzey
She doesn't remember much about this guy, but does remember that a human was kind to her once. He also gave her the first taste of what human magic could do (like capture her image and put it on a screen for her to see).
Ziggy
Her new best friend! He makes all her senses so much stronger and she revels in it. She freed this little guy and has sort of fallen into the role of trying to keep him both safe and entertained, kind of like a parent. She hopes to someday teach him how to focus on something for longer than a few seconds.
Parlaq
The most helpful spider! Also an elder, so he has to be respected. She thought he was really nice and hoped she didn't mangle the language too badly.
Lila
Mean elder! Still has to be respected.
Nisvi
Kip really wishes she hadn't started off on the wrong foot with her, but is glad she was able to get a forgiveness goat to make things even between them.
Kip spent her time growing up getting as best of an education as Zeke could provide (which is not too shabby), though she prefers to speak like a xekohym and has difficulty remembering how to speak the common tongue that humans use, which can make her sound a bit dull.
Kip was hatched in the Mire, but orphaned shortly after when her parents were killed by bandits that believed treasure lizards carried actual treasure around (these ones didn't). Luckily for her, the altercation drew the attention of a crusty old xekohym named Zeke, who decided to care for her at least until she could fend for herself. After a year passed it became clear she'd become attached to him and Zeke ended up making peace with having an adopted lizard daughter. She got kidnapped by the same bandits a few years after to be used to find lost treasure in the mud of the Mire, but was rescued by an unlikely ally that Zeke enlisted help from -- a rone graduate student named Yantzey Feiring. After this incident, she learned to listen to her father and has since never been captured again. Lately, she's been working to find and free demons and help them clean up all the chaos energy lying around, and so far, she's freed one demon -- which is pretty great.
