Ellsworth was sick of Navroya. He’d spent years in this disgusting city and he was finally putting his foot down about the way things were run. He’d always been a protester of government and businesses having a heavy hand on the output of information in society, but this was too much. Who did they think they were fooling with those fake reports about a downed power plant? He could see through their lies. He knew they were hiding something big from the rest of society. It was just a matter of time before everything came out.
Honestly, he would have loved to be around for that moment of revelation. That was the kind of thing he dreamed about when he was younger. He wanted to rub this misstep in their bloated, self-serving faces and remind them who they’re really supposed to be serving. That’s right, the people. The people these organizations loved to step over and keep in the dark while they stuffed their pockets with as much money as they could get. There was a big conspiracy afoot and he wanted to know everything about it he could.
The problem was, he wasn’t alone anymore. If he was a younger man, sure, he could have run off and done some investigation. Now, he had two kids to think about, and one of them was still small enough to make him worry now and then. Well, ok, two kids and whatever weird ghoul Lux dredged up from the sewers and befriended. He was pretty sure that one was fine on its own, whatever it was. As much as he’d love to get to the bottom of this, he had to put their interests first, and living here was not doing any of them any favors. He just needed a reason to get them out that wouldn’t stand out for the kids. They were pretty sharp, and, he felt like they’d insist on staying if he told them his reasons for wanting to move them away.
