It has been seven years since this forest was destroyed.
The forest of Shadows Remains is located about a mile inland from the western coast of Lith.
Everything about this forest is twisted into a mass of darkness and corruption. There were once ancient trees that dripped with moss keeping this area dark and in the shade, but, now sunlight and moonlight pours down on the charred remains of this old forest. The old caves are still intact, but the dark chaos has pooled in them. Twisted beings made from the remains of the monsters who once lived here drag themselves out of the caves during the new moon, when the sky is darkest. They are twisted and changed by chaos and are dangerous to encounter. Long story short? Don’t go here.
The Forest of Shadows has always been a place of secrets and hidden things. It was commonly thought of as a place of isolation and solitude, but, there was a strong, close-knit community of People that inhabited this dark forest. The People who lived there were happy to share their resources when they had some to spare and the hype about it being full of rugged individuals who don't need anyone else around to survive was highly exaggerated.
One of the big unifying factors of the forest was the forest spirit, Alteer, and her shell, Te'Keer. They made sure to know all of the people in their forest and were willing to help with problems that came up. This was a big improvement from times in the past when Alteer has been seen as a cold, distant guardian who could be trusted to keep the forest safe. She was respected, but kept at a distance because of her general demeanor. It wasn't until after the great fire that she began to open up with her people and show them how much she cared about all of them.

Traditional Song
Wish me well upon my journey,
tell my aunt I love her dear,
by the time that day is over,
I'll be on the road away from here.
I've lived my life behind nights shield,
sheltered from the outside light,
but in my heart I want to wander,
see the world beyond the night.
I can't know where my life will take me,
through towns or fields I'll roam,
but no matter where life takes me,
I'll hold this forest as my home.
