Humans, also sometimes referred to as mankind, humanity, or simply Man, are the intelligent species of the world who do not have innate magical capabilities. Humans have far less physical variation than the People, as all subspecies of humans have the same general form: at least two legs and two arms, hands with thumbs, and so on and so forth. Humans generally stand between four and seven feet tall, though most are between five and six feet tall.
Humans, in opposition to the People, have a desire to constantly expand, explore, and innovate. While the vast majority of People are happy staying in their homes, humans often want to settle new areas (which generally has not gone well for the People). Humans, and Roner in particular, also have a special aptitude for using complex technology both theoretical and practical -- machinery, mathematics, harnessing power, etc.
Though not as diverse as the People, humans have several subspecies, each with different abilities. Humans other than Roner gained these abilities and characteristics through interbreeding with various species of People.
