The roner, singular rone, are a proud and intelligent subset of humans that other subspecies of humans are descended from. Though lacking the elemental affinities, shapeshifting, or other inherited powers of other human subspecies, roner make up for it with an affinity for inventing and utilizing technology, as well as overwhelmingly outnumbering the rest of the intelligent species around. A single rone can vary widely in capabilities and temperament, and large groups of roner are able to coordinate very effectively to accomplish tasks they could not do on their own or as a mob of individuals. Most roner live in densely-populated cities, but they're pretty much everywhere on the planet by now.
Physical Description
Roner have few physical features that one would not expect to find on a pure-blooded human, though their ears are sometimes long and end in points. Hair, skin, and eye colors vary widely, and they tend to stand an average of 5 to 6 feet tall when fully grown (though this varies from place to place). Roner are dexterous and adaptable, and can live in a wide variety of environments and climates even lacking advanced technology or magic.
Biology
Roner are mammals and have many of the traits associated with mammals. They are, however, mostly hairless and tend to have an easier time of things in temperate and tropical climates than colder ones, though that hasn't stopped them from settling in arctic areas.
Diet
Roner are omnivores and can eat fruits, vegetables, grains, meat, and several other things. However, they prefer to cook some foods before eating them (especially meat). Roner have also developed domesticated plants and animals over the years which they grow specifically to feed themselves, rather than relying on the chance of hunting something down. Most of the Roner population in the world eats food produced in this way.
Reproduction
You should know how this works, honestly.
Abilities and Magic
Roner are not well-known for their magical abilities (they have none naturally), but are very well known for their technological ones. Combining curiosity, great intellect, and boundless ambition has allowed the roner as a whole to achieve things through non-magical means that seem almost miraculous. A rone's physical abilities are nothing to scoff at, though endurance -- not strength or speed -- is a rone's greatest asset.
Roner are social creatures and normally work and live together rather than going it alone. They have taken this to such an extreme that they can form and maintain groups of many thousands or millions successfully over a long period of time.-- the Navroyan Confederation being a prime example of a very old and very powerful human nation. Nations like this combine and enhance the power of like-minded individuals, and can focus the efforts of those people towards achieving the same goal. They also wield immense power, which can be a major problem for anyone in their way.
Culture
There are countless different roner cultures, and they have a wide range of beliefs and customs. Roner cultures tend to be complex and nuanced, and can be hard to understand even for the people that live in them, let alone outsiders.
