There's a certain degree of wrath to his actions, too, as seen by the current no-fly situation around the swamp. He reacts poorly when cornered or threatened and lashes out.
Creation as One
Once, Yona and Xylia were one whole being, unhappy and alone in a barren patch of the world. They existed to guard and protect the land, but nothing they did could get anything to grow. They were upset and lonely, unable to focus and concentrate on bringing life to their home. They remained stuck without progress until a human named Asha happened by and noticed the sad state of their forest. She asked them what had kept them from growing their hope into someplace beautiful and full of life. The only answer the guardian spirit could give was, "I'm so lonely here. Don't leave me alone. I don't want to be alone."
The human did not want to remain and hold the spirit's hand while keeping them company, so she drew her sword and said to the spirit, "Great spirit, you are never alone. Let me help you realize how good of company you have." She carved the beast's soul in two with her mythic sword, and its flesh followed suit. Blood poured from the creature and became a round pool of water while the bones that once held its structure formed an island in the center. Asha waited by the split being for a week as their blood permeated the ground and plants began to grow. When they opened their eyes, Asha told them what happened and the pair gave her one of their old bones as a sign of their gratitude. Legend has it, Asha carved the bone into a mask and flute which she used to spread life and energy to those areas that needed it most.
Adapting to Two
The split spirit struggled to get used to life as two beings, despite their pleasure at having a companion. They found that neither had the energy to stay awake and active at all times anymore, and realized that each of them was drawn to a certain time of the day. Despite becoming two, they were unable to spend all their time together and could only talk and interact during dawn and gloaming. While initially upset, the two came to terms with ruling their halves of the day and limiting their personal time together to the intersections of both. They were not really alone. They were taking care of the other during their waking times and protecting them and the forest that began to flourish after the split.
They each developed in different directions with different minds and natures despite their shared spirit. The creatures that came to be in the forest imitated their protectors in their powers and, in turn, shaped how Xylia and Yona came to think of themselves and the world. Despite how different each half grew, they did not grow apart. Instead, their differences and mannerisms served to cement how much they cared for each other.

Anise
He hasn't seen too much of them. They're more in Xylia's time frame. He's glad there's someone out there making sure people stay connected, though. He appreciates that.
She's more in Xylia's time frame. She sounds like a very spirited person, that's for sure. He appreciates how much effort she and father are putting into keeping the forest safe.
Yoogurt
He wasn't too happy about this human showing up back when he first arrived. Yona's warmed up to his presence over the years and, while he does not go out of his way to speak to the scientist, he has come to see him as part of his forest.
Elmadan
A very, very brave mirmurk. He was nervous about letting him leave, but, after he had a conversation with Xylia about the situation, he relented and is very happy he allowed him to go. He feels very lucky to have such a capable person in the forest. He just wishes he'd been able to give Elmadan more to work with when he left. It felt like he let the mirmurk leave with an impossible task. Even so, he pulled through. Yona is so grateful to him.
Iso
He was very suspicious about having this woman in the forest when she first showed up. He still hasn't seen much of her, but he's heard good things from the inhabitants.
Lilac
She's very clever and quick on her feet. He was very confused when she came to talk to him about a human she loved, unsure how to handle the situation. He did not like the idea of inviting a human into the forest, but, Lilac was very insistent that he was willing to embrace the forest.

sdfsd
At his core, he is a gentle, mild being that cares about his forest and everyone within it. He has a tendency to overreact to situations and take dramatic measures when simple solutions are readily available. He's careful and thinks before he acts, sometimes to the point of inaction. There was a point of time when he tried being better about this habit of his, but the demise of the other forests has led him to become increasingly paranoid and anxious about the future. He no longer has time to worry about improving his mindset. He has people to take care of and protect.
Yona is prone to worry about everything there is to worry about. He's got an active imagination and makes mental lists of terrible things that can happen to his loved ones. It's a bad habit, but it makes him feel like he's prepared to handle all the emergencies he's thought through.
Personality
Background
Yona is one of the two forest spirits that looks after the last forest. His other half, Xylia, draws energy from the day and he draws energy from the night. He has two forms; a true form and a smaller form. His smaller form is more humanoid in appearance and helps him interact with the People of his forest better. He sings with the wind that rushes through the forest and has a sad, melodic voice.
