Iso is a somewhat young bug-human born in the town of Pentree, though she's since made a temporary move to the last forest to hone her already keen people-helping skills even further. She's pretty easily identified by her multi-colored insect wings on top of, you know, the antenna thing she's got going on.
Background
Personality
Happy, outgoing and painfully optimistic, she's all smiles - her favorite hobby is cheering other people up, or at least attempting to. She is one who will always try see the better sides of a person no matter how they act, even if she can sometimes get a little exasperated; though this exasperation is in no small part due to her willingness to thrust herself into others' problems. This is not always appreciated. Nevertheless, she's always up for giving out advice or be a shoulder to cry on.
She is outspoken as well - if she sees something she doesn't agree with, she isn't afraid to make her voice known. After all, it's all about helping people in the end! Despite her own frustrations sometimes, she never holds her perceived sleights against anyone. Everyone's deserving of a second chance: no matter who you are, Iso will be there for you, one hundred and ten percent, as long as you're willing to put in the effort.
Personal History
Pentree
Iso's hometown! It's where she grew up and frankly, it's a good place to live, according to her - if only it were a bit easier to live there if you can't fly. Good thing she could! She had a pretty happy early childhood, making friends and getting to know the town and its residents inside and out - it influenced her decision to try to help out with whatever deliveries or small tasks needed doing around the town. She also liked to hang out around the entrance, at ground level - greeting any newcomers that happened to pass through and giving them a good first impression! Helps when the town's so high and out of reach.
Though these small acts eventually began to feel more unfulfilling to the bug - she just didn't feel like she was doing enough! She knew she could do better, make a real impact on things and others' lives -- so she figured maybe she oughta learn how to be a doctor! After all, it seemed like the most direct way to be able to assist others. Unfortunately for her none of the local docs were actively taking apprentices or willing to teach, leaving her against something of a wall. Though she eventually found a way to learn anyhow, though it involved a small trek over to the last forest!
She heard of a certain mirmurk in the swamp there that was a sort of miracle worker when it comes to this stuff - she figured he might be able to teach her a thing or two! So, against the recommendation of many of her fellow townsfolk, she packed up and set off on her journey!
Arriving at the Last Forest
The actual trek to the forest wasn't bad at all! It took a week or so, but she sure got there with her supplies still there and things were pretty great! It turns out the swamp wasn't very great. She was woefully under-prepared for the actualities and harshness the swamp faced her with, which led to her losing almost all of her supplies into the swampy depths. The combination of exhaustion and overworking her wings on top of the swamp's natural dangers could have very well killed her - had she not happened across Mips, a friendly mirmurk, at an opportune moment. He happened to be a fairly skilled doctor-in-training, and thanks to his help and hospitality Iso was able to make a full recovery! This was also around the time her struggles around living without a shirt on took off.
She stayed with Mips for a short while, though as it turns out a stump isn't exactly the best place to live for a human. She eventually found an abode more fitting for her in the form of a small lab run by an angler fish man named Yoogurt! Well, sort of a lab - she mostly hangs around its ground floor while he experiments in the basement. But it actually has some good facilities for her and is pretty comfortable!
She was, unfortunately, turned down and called a floozy by Malik when she came to him asking if she could learn from him. Undeterred and determined, however, she remained in the swamp, adamant in her endeavor - she won't leave until she gets what she wants! ...Which is being provided by Mips, thankfully, as he agreed to teach Iso what he learns from Malik behind his back.
Airship crash
After the foreign airship crash landed in the swamp, Iso made sure to try to be on the front lines as much as she could and practice what she learned - and her efforts were rewarded by finding and saving two lives! She rescued Pia from a dastardly wrestling match with a tree, and with some help from several forest inhabitants and Chicory, a passing Yutu, she was able to help the kid make a full recovery. Later, she managed to save a fellow bug-person named Boson, who she found drowning in mud while collecting some plants. Lacking many other options at the time, she took him to Yoogurts' place where she cleaned him up. He continues recuperating there, living with Iso and Yoogurt.
Abilities and Powers
A whole lot of inner determination and strength, the ability to follow her dreams, flight. She's also fairly decent at memorizing locations and routes, thanks to her flying around Pentree so much. She also has an uncanny ability to bring a smile to many peoples' faces for one reason or another.
Relationships
Pentree
Valerie Dubay: Iso' mother! She can be needlessly cryptic or sassy at times, Iso thinks, but she loves her all the same. She was always encouraging of Iso's status as a social butterfly and Iso appreciates that! She was very encouraging of Iso's trip tot he forest.
Augustine Dubay: Iso's overprotective dad. He was always one to enact strict curfews on his daughter, which she didn't entirely mind but grew more and more tiresome as she got older. He was rather fervently against Iso's trip to the forest, and actually tried to force her to stay when he got wind of it. Iso thinks he can be a bit stubborn - though she supposes her own stubbornness comes from him, and he did a good job at teaching her morals. She doesn't agree with him entirely, but she knows he means well, and that's all that matters to Iso - she'll love him regardless of his shortcomings.
Spider: Iso does not like the soft-spoken glospiker and she sort of despises herself for that. He's only done good things for the town and there shouldn't be anything to despise him for, but yet here she is, being petty and jealous over the attention he gets. She deals with it by treating it as a sort of friendly rivalry, something he is very, very confused by.
Amelia: [tba]
The Forest
Mips: What a friendly mirmurk! He made a brilliant first impression, what with saving her life and all, and she can definitely appreciate the optimism and cheerfulness Mips brings to the table; it reminds her of herself in a lot of ways! She admires Mips' skills and appreciates him tutoring her! He's a great friend to have and Iso's glad she ran into him.
Ruuck: As the other half of her tutoring duo, she is no less appreciative of Ruuck than she is Mips. She thinks he can be overly grim at times and should brighten his view of the world a little bit more, but is a bit unsure of how to go about that. He definitely seems to be doing fine in his current mindset though, she has to admit that! But can't he do better?
Malik: Completely and utterly exasperating. He's like a brick wall Iso cannot crack and it infuriates her. She doesn't understand why he can't at least give her a chance, even a small one! Regardless of this, Iso does respect his skills that she's heard of, and is grateful that he's helping the victims of the airship crash with such dedication. If only he were just a bit more open...! Really, she pities him and whatever got him in the state he's currently in.
Yoogurt: An awesome if a bit eccentric individual! She's not gonna lie, most of the stuff he does flies right over her head, but she does know whatever he's doing is in the name of helping the forest out, and that's all she needs to know to place him in Iso's good books! And that's not counting the fact that he's letting her stay with him, too! Him offering all his facilities, a warm(ish) bed to sleep in and pants is a mind-bogglingly kind move to Iso, and one she's not sure she can ever repay in kind. She'll always be willing to help Yoogurt out if he needs her assistance, though! That's one thing he can count on.
Ano: The wily half-ciltic hybrid somehow managed to get on Iso's good side, despite the antics Ano can get up to. Though, perhaps it's unsurprising given that Ano's actually quite friendly! Iso's come to accept Ano's quirks and little pranks as harmless fun; she's pretty fun to chat up, too! Oh, and she encouraged Iso to go shirtless in the swamp, something surprisingly practical considering the environment. It did help Iso's shyness about that, so that's worth something!
Yona: She hasn't talked with the spirit much in person, truthfully, but frankly she still likes him quite a bit on principle. She's thinking of trying to find and chat him up one night.
Xylia: To her shame, she has not even seen Xylia yet. She wants to fix this. She's living in their forest, its the least she can do to get to know them a bit!
Pia: The kid confuses her quite a bit...didn't. Didn't anyone tell him he isn't a dragon? Well...in the end, she thinks it's mostly harmless, considering he's so young? But really, someone should get on that eventually. He's a sweet kid otherwise, one that really didn't deserve getting impaled on a tree! Not that anyone deserves that. She's happy he seems to be doing well now!
Boson: A friendly guy, all in all! She's pretty curious as to where he came from and what that whole big flying thing in the sky they came in was, and just a lot of things about him in general interest her! There's also the small fact that he's smokin' hot. She's happy to be taking care of him, and it's that way and not the other way around gdi
Other
Chicory: A very responsible little yutu! She impressed Iso with the healing magic she displayed and just all-around level-headedness, and the determination she showed about wanting to save the forest! Iso was definitely a little sad to see her leave, as short a time as she knew the yutu, though really, she can't blame her for leaving. She just found her little brother again! C'mon, you can't separate a family like that right after a reunion.
Gru: Predictably, Gru's charm, charisma, and general fun-to-be-aroundness led Iso to like him! She thinks his skill with a guitar was really neat, and hey, he's actually pretty cute, too...though no wings? Major turn-off, sorry.
