A coastal community on the far side of the continent. It specializes in fishing and crabs and lobsters and just. Lots of seafood. They are very withdrawn from everything, but make great chowders. They export a lot of seafood to the surrounding areas in exchange for vegetables and grains. And they probably do export krill
History
Early History
Crail started out as a small gathering port for humans and people alike who wanted to set sail and seek their fortunes at sea. Over the years, it increased in size until it reached its current size and general population. It started out as a very equal town for all races and species and was known as a very accepting place to settle down or stay if you were a bit of an outsider from the social norms.
Contemporary History
The town's been through a lot of upheaval in the past hundred or so years. The town polarized as far as humans and people go with neither group feeling that comfortable with the other. Recently, there have been minor movements to try reuniting the two sections, but, little to no progress has been made as of yet.
Geography
Climate
A temperate climate with its fair share of gloomy days and bright and cheerful ones. There's a stormy season when the town goes into lock down mode around the end of the summer.
Districts
The district system is very simple. There's a side for humans and a side for the people. While there's no rules keeping the two sides from mixing, there's a lot of prejudice and fear on both ends about the others. Visitors need to be careful which side they go to when they stop by, and boats need to check and make sure they are docking on the proper side of town.
Demographics
There's a wide variety of humans and people in Crail. A visitor can see some of the rarer types of monster and men just by walking down main street in either district.
Economy
Most of the revenue for Crail is made from the fishing and shipping industries. It's seen better days, but still pulls in a nice income.
There's a Large fairly successful Shipyard where a lot of different types of boats are made, and then sent off to different places all over.
Main Sights and Tourism
Tourism used to be really big around here, but, since the schism, that aspect of life has died down. There are still a number of very well known seafood restaurants and chowder houses, but, the years of having celebrations on the shore and shooting off fireworks are over.
Transportation
Let's be honest here. It's mostly boats. There are dirt roads that lead up to the town, too, which allow wagons and carts to travel with ease. Most people walk if they want to get around by foot, since it's cheaper and more convenient in a small town like this.
Culture
Festivals
The Chowder Festival - A late autumn festival to celebrate the end of fall and give people something to look forward to as winter closes in. It's celebrated by both halves of the city.
Fashion
Simple and practical. There isn't a lot of outlandish clothing around the town.
Media
There's one town paper run by the humans.
Cuisine
So much seafood! Cream based chowders are their specialty, but all kinds of great seafood is available when the fish is in season.
Education
There is a small school system in the human half of the town, but most monsters rely on homeschooling their children or, more often, teaching them a craft or skill.
