History (there's a lot)
Solana was born in Malaca over 1400 years before the present day as the daughter of commoners granted noble titles for service in Malaca's military; however, her father did not spoil her because she was nobly born, and tended to be a strict parent. In her childhood she was a tomboy, but eventually came to terms with her role in society and agreed to marry the son of one of her father's close friends. Though the marriage was arranged, she ended up happy with the arrangement and had two children with her first husband Ibrahim. It was during this time that she met Delos, who quickly became one of her best friends and would later become her second husband, though at the time he was hired as her manservant and head butler. Life progressed as normal until quartzpike appeared and ravaged the city and then the country. Ibrahim became infected after going to study the new disease, but quarantined himself before any of his family or servants were also infected by his presence. He continued his research on the new plague even as it swept through the city and he himself was dying, and quickly learned that although no roner was immune to it, women that were pregnant with children from non-roner fathers could not become infected. Suffice it to say that he, his wife, and Delos had a very awkward conversation together.
Personality
Solana is a no-nonsense kind of person when it comes to her work. She's used to leadership and is able to make difficult decisions quickly, and she tends to come off as cold and businesslike. However, she will treat those close to her with much more warmth and probably tease them a lot. She enjoys people who say what they want to, but detests liars.
With her second chance came a new body, though aside from the change in hair and eye color the differences are minor.
Physical Description
Solana was a short woman, with a shapely body, hair as white as snow, and bright blue eyes. She was physically fit through most of her life, first in the pursuit of bearing healthy children, and then in the pursuit of ruling a nation and hunting demons. While she wore her hair in a long braid before the quartzpike disaster, she kept it cut short for the rest of her life afterwards.
Background
Since she died around 1300 years before the present day, most people living know little about who she actually was except for what they've read in history books and heard from stories and legends. Though, it seems that the Dark Lady has been gracious enough to grant her a second chance in the present day...
Lady Solana, true name Reina Solanaceae, and also known as the Vanquisher of Demons, is the founder of Navroya and the country it governs, as well as its first ruler. A legendary figure, Lady Solana brought order to a land ravaged by the infamous plague quartzpike, sealed all the demons away, and greatly influenced events with sweeping effects for the entire world.
After the matter of her gaining immunity to the plague, Solana dove tirelessly into working to help the sick and those still untouched by the plague. Over time, and because she was seemingly immune to the plague despite being a rone, Reina Solanaceae grew into something of a legend in Malaca, becoming known as Lady Solana (someone had misheard her last name and thought the first half was the entire thing, and it stuck.). Further on, during the search for the source of the plague and a possible cure, her two children both became infected by the plague and were sentenced to slow, agonizing deaths. Solana doubled her efforts to find a cure and put a stop to the plague, working herself to exhaustion, and eventually tracked the plague back to the man who'd had a hand in making it. With the man and his notes on the plague's creation, work on a cure sped up enormously -- but unfortunately for Solana, her two-year-old daughter Lucia died before a cure was found, while her four-year-old son Taryn was only cured after the point where quartzpike permanently crippled his body. Needless to say, Solana was not inclined to be merciful when the time came to punish the crime of creating quartzpike, and even went above and beyond what was required by having the guilty crucified on the face of a clock tower in Malaca.
After the drama of the plague came years of hard work recovering from the damage. Over half of the roner population of Acetate had been killed, a devastating blow for the continent's survivors as farms lay untended and food stores ran low. The chaotic aftermath of the plague claimed many more lives, not all of them roner. Famine and war wracked the land as some nations collapsed and others completely closed off their borders. The story of how things went is long and kind of boring, but to put it shortly Solana was a major stabilizing influence for her new city of Navroya, the surrounding area, and then the entire continent. Though she left the governance of Navroya to her son Taryn (who had grown up to have a very strong mind and would prove to be an effective ruler), she remained the leader of the Solanites for the remainder of her life.
One of her most important accomplishments was the sealing of every demon she could find, an act of revenge for her family and the millions of dead. This would have major repercussions for the world later down the line, which Solana has been kicking herself over for a long time.
She also had a hand in the destruction of the Crystal Kingdom, but was not directly responsible.
Abilities and Powers
Solana is a Roner woman of below-average height and good health, and most of her abilities lay in interpersonal and academic skills.
Education
Solana was a highly educated noblewoman that knew many, many things about the world as it was 1400 years ago. She often spent her spare time either with tutors or reading to increase her knowledge, and would sponsor research personally. As of the modern day, her education is pretty outdated, but she knows the fundamentals of modern history and technology.
Charisma
Solana was able to sway crowds and individuals to her side with rousing speeches, and this was often her greatest strength.
Martial Abilities
Solana was trained in horseback riding, archery, and at her insistence and after obtaining her father's permission, swordsmanship. Her interest in martial arts ended when she got married to her first husband, but after the plague and with the arrival of new responsibilities she began practicing again. She learned a thing or two about both personal combat and military strategy during her time as leader of the Solanites, and ended up more seasoned than most in this regard. She doesn't know the first thing about how to use a modern gun, and doesn't really want to (she doesn't enjoy the noise), but she's handy with a sword and
Relationships
Delos
Delos was, to put it short, Solana's most beloved person in the world (alongside their children). For a woman who always knows what to say, she has trouble giving justice to the depth of her love with just words. Impressed and intrigued in him from their first meeting, Solana first considered him a good friend and a trusted member of her household, enough that she would feel comfortable leaving him alone with her children. She liked how intelligent he was and how he always supported her when she felt she was becoming overwhelmed; often, she'd specifically ask for his help for no reason other than she wanted to converse with him for a time. Though this probably interrupted his duties more than once, Solana felt that Delos probably enjoyed it as much as she did, and did it anyway. Though her relationship with him was at times strained because of her own fears, she loved the hell out of him and did not regret having him as her second husband despite how much fate wanted them to be apart.
