Rob, Steve, Lyle, and Phil, Book the Syndicate Lake (GB) for a TWATS Day out!
Phil arrives at Steve by 5:30 am when 6:15 would have done nicely. So we all arrive at the Lake a little early. 6:30 instead of 7AM.
It a cold overcast day no sunny spells as promised, but at least the rain stayed away. It did get a little warmer in the afternoon.
Lyle and his Secret Bait/Weapon?? took the car park corner peg. Steve took the point leaving Rob and Phil the Hut!
Rob catches a 10lb first and through the day takes another 5 fish 17.5lb 19lb1oz, 18lb, 15lb 1oz, and a 14lb4oz all on Sweet corn and Chickpeas.
Phil takes a PB Common and his first Fish from the Syndicate Lake at 19lb4oz, on Sweet corn and Chickpea.
Steve tried Boilies on the hair with a small PVA Bag to the point and in Open Water but despite his best efforts no fish caught.
Lyle and his Secret Bait or Secret Weapon as he called it, also Blanked! I must get the recipe to add to my list of "avoid at all cost" Mixes!
I do know it contained: Chilli, Garlic, Black Pepper, Scopex and some?? I think he may have overdone the flavorings, given it was so early in the season and the water is still very cold.
We were still having frost and snow just a week or so ago.
With 6 fish rob made the inspired choice of a tin of chickpeas, 50p and a tin of Sweetcorn 37p to steal the day!
It wasn't all positive for him as his maggot clip failed to get a run, but he was impressed with his new for 2018, Carp rods 9 foot 2.5lb test curve, his new Scales by Korum, His new quick links on his bite alarms and buzz bars, along with his new goal post set up buzz bars.
Robs 19lb 1oz best of 6 fish on his first trip out of the year!
Phil's Fish of the day 19lb1oz, PB and first Fish from the Syndicate
Rob as asked me as the editor to point out his bait and approach was never a secret, as he'd shared the details with Lyle in a txt convo during the week.
Applying the principles of Kiss "Keep It Simple Son" worked for Rob! Well done Mate!
