Dear Ed,
I've been reading in the news and watching TV news stories about Ball Tampering by the Australian Cricket Team. It seems this sort of behavior is unacceptable by sports men and women, where do we stand on tampering with Bait. Is this legal or simply Just not Cricket??
One of the most intelligent questions ever posed to me Phil.
In short is perfectly acceptable and does not break any rules to tamper with your own bait! Fishermen and Women have for many years been concocting new baits and new glugs in an effort to gain an "EDGE" over there fellow fishermen, or Women? Bait making and tweaking is widely accepted as the norm and in fact just another facet of this sport.
HOWEVER IT IS NEVER ACCEPTABLE TO TAMPER WITH THE BAIT OF ANOTHER FISHERMAN!
Many bait companies have invested pounds and time in developing new baits, and getting the tested in the field. You may want to approach a bait company with a view to offering yourself up as a field tester? You never know you may get some sponsorship and or free baits to try??
A note of CAUTION for every best selling bait that proves it's self to be a real winner there must be one or more that just FLOP!
Try talking to Lyle he has experience of this! Oil Toil, Brew and Boil he's spend pounds and time mixing quality ingredients from either the Tackle Shop or local Supermarket only to Blank!
I admire his resolve, resilience and perseverance. One day Phil he may be a millionaire??
Me Thou, I apply the principles of Kiss KEEP It Simple Son, Some of the best baits are cheap and simple. BREAD, Sweetcorn, Worm, Maggot, Chickpeas? I rest my case!
Tight lines ED.
