Rob Steve, Phil and Lyle book the lake, for a day in search of some big Carp.
Rob and Phil pick the car park side with Rob taking his favourite Corner swim, while Phil fishes the far margin, and the point.
Steve take the far End of the lake near the Hut with Lyle taking the swims opposite Phil also fishing the point.
It,s a really warm day, 24 degrees and there are plenty of fish cruising the surface layers. the day just gets hotter and hotter as time passes.
Phil takes an 18lb, 14lb and 2 x 12lb fish, for most of the day his rod tips were dancing like Darcy Bussell and Wayne Sleep at a disco. he was having plenty of knocks and line bits but the runs were few and far between.
Rob took a 14lb, 12lb, 15lb, 14lb, 12lb he also had at least 4 runs which when struck there was surprisingly nothing there?? he had one on and it spat the hook. most of his runs came from either fishing very close in at the pipe or from the corner to the right of the pipe where he had a neutrally balanced boilie and a scatter approach.
Lyle took a 12lb 16lb and a 8lb, and I believe these all these fell to a boilie on the bottom, however Lyle also spent some time fishing Bread on the surface. a few of the free offering were taken but in the main Bread was not the approach.
Steve Tried 6 different boilies including Makes and flavours which have done well at this venue in the past. despite his very best efforts and working hard he never managed to get a proper run? This is strange as like phil he was having a single beep on his alarms at frequent intervals plenty of knocks just no runs??
What is going on? The lads were expecting to be filling their boots today?
Spawning over, warm conditions, some overcast conditions at times, these are the days which in the past have produced 10 and 12 fish each. I guess that's why its called fishing and not catching?
It sure does seem hard work at the moment.
