Dear Team Members, we have received a questions via the comments and feedback page asking:
Would we consider the application for membership from a none UK resident?
It seems a member of the international community is interested in becoming a TWAT and joining the team, they are based in the EU!
As editor I quite like the idea of our team becoming an international organisation and a Global Brand?? However we should follow our democratic process as defined in the teams rules and required by UK Law.
Having taken a quick look at the rules and regulations and by allowing such an application we may actually qualify to draw upon EU Funding??
I would appreciate the thoughts and feedback from existing team members and encourage a open and transparent debate on this issue which will be put to a democratic vote the next time all 5 team members are together.
However we should also consider our position in terms of vote LEAVE or REMAIN ON THE 23 June EU referendum, if we vote leave the above issue may no longer be a viable Option for the said prospective member? and of course this would also mean we would loose any right to draw up this EU Funding???
Phil has some Italian Blood Rob has some Welsh Blood, Martin is from Birmingham and as such we are a MULTI-cultural and ethnically diverse group are we not?
Therefore I ask all team members to consider their positions carefully.
A Vote Remain and Vote to allow international membership may also be subject to EU Rules and regulations i.e. Any funding would be paid in Euro's and not Sterling. We may have to start weighing our catches in KGs instead of Lbs and Ozs? I Know I Know this is a tricky subject and has such no 3 line whip will be applied, each member may vote with their conscience!
Ps If you have any ideas what we could spend the 5 Euros on Please let me have your suggestions before the 23 June.
I personally think we should buy Steve a Purple Bulb for his Pink Delkim Bite Alarm??
Yours
ED
Update on the above:
Martin I'm sorry you seem to have been misled by current team policy and to clarify you should be weighing current catches in Lbs and Ozs Guessing has never be the Team Policy?
Steven Having examined all evidence within the remit of the TWATs Internal affairs group and irrespective of your receipt and advertising material supplied by Delkim your alarm is defiantly pink!
I think its Barbie Pink although this is only my opinion and is not based on scientific research ( We couldn't get the funding from the EU)
There is no appeals procedure you can access via the TWATS, however have you tried complaining to Delkim? You may be eligible to compensation for distress caused by their misleading advertising and your consumer rights are protected in EU Law!
I hope this helps?
ED
Update No 2
Steve has decided he doesn't mind if his Delkim bite alarm is Pink or Purple as long as it keeps singing!
Well done Steve that's the attitude mate and it is so nice to see your feminine side showing through. There is nothing wrong with Pink!
Regarding the application for membership from an EU National:
I believe Twats would be enriched and enhanced by the culture, customs and traditions this citizen would bring to our group and you can't put a value on that!.
Therefore as editor I support their application 100%
How do the rest of the Team feel about learning a new language? I'm sure we could find some free resources online that would help!
