Rob and Steve head to Dormston for a days fishing, the northerly breeze was making it chilly, and they choose to fish the bank with the wind in their face.
Rob was determined not to let the cold defeat him, his new brolly a Diawa Powerbeam made a great wind break.
Trying out some new boilies Steve had 4 different flavours for the lads to chuck in, and Rob is straight in to a fish before he'd got settled.
a 15lb on a pinacolada type boilie, and another at 8lb on the same boilie about 45 minutes later.
Rob switches that rod to a Banana boilie and takes an 14lb , switching the bait again he chucks out a Nutty boilie and takes a 17lb.
Steve was beginning to think he'd be going home a blanker, but after a recast to a previous spot which had been resting for an hour, he takes a 27lb
The fish of the day.
27lb Common
Well chuffed they pack up after another last 1/2 hour give or take 5 mins and head home.
I didn't see many other fish being taken anywhere around the lake, which means the lads were punching high and are delighted to have found a bait that seems to work.
Although there are more trials planned over the next few weeks confidence is building in this bait.
It was a good day and the lads were so glad they went despite the cold and the long weight for Steve, well worth the effort, chuffed they went home thinking of next week!
