AMOC (Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation) collapse is coming. How bad?
Example - Central Mexico:
AMOC collapse would make Central Mexico drier and more drought‑prone by shifting the tropical rain belt southward, weakening the North American monsoon system that supplies summer rain, and altering storm tracks that affect the region.Example -Great Lakes: Winters would become more stormy, the growing season would likely shorten, precipitation patterns would shift, and Great Lakes water levels and ice cover would become more erratic.
Example, Northern Europe - abrupt, severe cooling—especially in winter—alongside much drier summers, more intense cold extremes and storms, and significant knock-on effects for agriculture, energy, and coastal sea levels.
