With the advent of the internet and social media came the science heretics of every ilk who finally found their voice in this uncharted and open digital landscape. These ranged widely from complete cranks and charlatans to laymen, serious scientists, outcasts all who were banished by the groupthink guardians of their given professions. Over the years, these created themselves a video presence - some of them with very large audiences. This science heresy free-for -has gone on for a decade - until recently. Now, the certified boffins are realizing that these sites are actually making inroads on their turf, and they don't like it one little bit.
