Lawrence Dworsky:

Anecdotal evidence, or anecdotes, are facts about a given situation that are extracted from all the available facts (data), usually by somebody trying to "sell" their point. We will give several examples of these and how they can lead to the wrong conclusions. Also, we'll conjecture on why we seem to grab onto anecdotes and want to accept the erroneous conclusions that they lead us to.
