TRIPLE BATCH!!!
INGREDIENTS:
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup butter
3 eggs, separated
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
2-1/2 cups chopped nuts
Jam
Method:
- Heat oven to 350°.
- Mix sugar through vanilla .
- Mix in flour and salt until dough holds together.
- Shape into 1" balls.
- Beat egg white slightly.
- Dip each ball into egg and roll in nuts.
- Place 1" apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Press thumb into center of each and fill with jam.
- Bake until light brown, 8 to 9 minutes.
- If desired, dab edge of jam with frosting.
Makes 9 dozen
