FRESH GREEN BEANS with BACON

From Pam's Midwest Kitchen Korner

Ingredients:

2 pounds fresh green beans, ends snapped and halved or not

4-5 slices bacon, large dice

2 cups water

2 cups low-sodium chicken broth

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon seasoned pepper

½ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Method:

Cook bacon until crisp in a small skillet. Remove and set aside.

To a large pot, add green beans and remaining ingredients plus all of the bacon, except for 1 tablespoon for garnish.

Bring to a boil, lower heat to a simmer and cook for an hour or two until tender, stirring occasionally.

Transfer to serving bowl.
