The Gaels made the long trek for the second night in a week to the north Kildare border to take on Confey in what proved to be an outstanding game of football. It was level pegging a half time with Confey registering 3-01 and the Gaels with 2-04, leaving the second half there for the taking for the team with the greatest hunger. It looked like Confey were going to take the victory as they rattled the net followed by a point to go four clear. Not to be outdone the Gaels stepped up their work rate with twenty minutes to go and found their range as they rattled off some fantastic scores from ball that was won in the back line. In a ten minute blitz they turned a four point deficit into a six point lead and were well on top when the final whistle sounded.
A great team performance and a well deserved victory.
Scorers for Cúchulainn Gaels: Conor Hyland 2-4, Conor Mullholland 1-2, Robert Hanley 1-1, Enda Mc Sweeney 1-0, Ryan Moran 0-2 & Cormac O'Mahony 0-1
Special mention must go to Danny Leahy in goals who pulled off some great saves. Dermot Hickey was outstanding in the number 3 jersey and he was able assisted by the back line. Josh Clinton and Cormac O'Mahony covered every blade of grass from the middle and all of the forwards got on the score sheet.
