Kildangan Seniors produced their best performance of the league against Allenwood on Monday evening 29th , winning on a scoreline of 2-9 to 0-13.
Kildangan led from the off thanks to a Stephen Quigley goal and point, however it was never a comfortable lead as Allenwood kept it score for score for the first half, two points separating the teams at half time, 1-5 to 0-6.
Allenwood again kept the Kildangan defence on their toes in the second half, however Stephen Quigley produced some superb points to keep the scoreboard ticking over, aided by a cracking Ryan Moran goal and an point from Eric O'Hara. With two points separating the teams and minutes remaining, the crossbar denied Allenwood victory when a rasping shot ricochet over for a point.
The final score of 2-9 to 0-13 was a fair reflection of a tight enthralling encounter and hopefully is an indicator that the hard work being done in training is starting to pay dividends for Kildangan.
Credit is due to the younger players who really stepped up to the mark tonight, especially when the game was in the melting pot in the second half.
