It was a game of two halves in the Under 12 league this evening when Kildangan took on Grange in the final round of the South Board League, Division 3. Grange raced into an early lead and were a goal and a point up before Kildangan registered their first score. Kildangan worked their way into the game with a couple of fine scores to leave the game tied at half time on a scoreline of 2:01 each.
It was a different Kildangan team that took the field for the second half with a couple of quick fire scores from the throw-in settling the nerves. Apart from well taken scores the Kildangan defensive effort was superb as time and again they denied the Grange attack time and space to take scores.
The result was well beyond doubt before Grange got their first point of the second half, a point from a free with 10 minutes remaining. A further goal and point put a bit of gloss on the scoreline however for their second half display Kildangan were deserved winners on a final score line of 9:11 to 3:03
Overall the league campaign has had mixed results with three wins from five including a fine win against Rathangan with a score of 6:11 to 3:05, a win against Suncroft and losses against Two Mile House and Ellistown-the latter by a solitary point.
Tonights result should be enough to see us through to the league semi final, however other results will dictate the final spot.
Well done to the team and mentors on a superb campaign.
