Senior League Round 2, Kildangan 1:12, Leixlip 2:08

Following last weeks great win against Straffan, Kildangan Seniors took on Leixlip in Kildangan on Monday evening 11 April. Kildangan started at a blistering pace and we were four points up before Leixlip registered their first score. The half time score of five points to three in favour of Kildangan flattered Leixlip slightly as Kildangan recorded seven wides in the first half, some from very score-able positions. The second half started like the first, with Kildangan racking up a number of scores, one form the boot of Sean Francis a beauty. Leixlip slowly started to come to terms with the pace of the game, adding a number of points to leave the game seven points to six in favour of Kildangan, midway through the second half. Leixlip were up for it, great support play resulted in an unstoppable shot to the back of the Kildangan net. Kildangan responded in kind, recording the next two scores, points from Pauric Casey and Stephen Quigley tieing the game at nine points each. Once again Leixlip went poaching, again a goal the result, followed by a point to put them four in front and time running out.

Kildangan were not giving up, twice the woodwork prevented Kildangan goals. Finally the breakthrough came when Eric O'Hara drove the ball to the back of the Leixlip net, to leave one between the teams. Stephen Quigley added a point, a great individual effort, to tie the game at fourteen points all. Time was almost up and Kildangan were in the ascendency, however they could not get the vital score as time and time again the Leixlip backs smothered the Kildangan attack.
