The Kildangan under 13 team are through to the Division 3 final following great semi-final win over Ellistown in an overcast More O'Ferrall Park this evening. Ellistown opened the scoring with a point, but it wasn't long before Kildangan's Josh Burns replied. Mark O'Donovan and Sean Fitzgerald added points for Kildangan before Ellistown could register their second. O'Donovan sent Kildangan further in front with a goal in the twelfth minute. Ellistown had the chance to add one of their own about a minute later, but it was saved by the Kildangan goalkeeper, Ben Keogh. Ellistown were next on the scoresheet with their third point, followed by one from Sean Fitzgerald of Kildangan. Ellistown were hot on Kildangan's heels with a goal. However, Josh Burns ensured that Kildangan remained in front with a point. Mark O'Donovan contributed a brace of goals to Kildangan's tally in the last ten minutes of the half. Despite Ellistown getting a goal of their own early in the first half, O'Donovan's efforts saw the home team out in front.Kildangan pushed further in front once the second half commenced with a point from Josh Burns. O'Donovan scored his fourth goal of the game not long afterwards. Ellistown made a big effort to threaten the Kildangan defence and had a chance rattle the crossbar in the 38th minute. They beared down on the Kildangan defence once again. Ben Keogh was determined to work the ball out despite pressure from an Ellistown forward, and managed to do so effectively. Kildangan then added a point minutes later.
Josh Burns was certainly in fine form, giving Kildangan their fifth goal in the 48th minute. Ellistown were awarded a penalty and Keogh pulled off a spectacular save, but Ellistown managed to score on the rebound. Josh Burns sealed the win for Kildangan with yet another goal. Ellistown got the final score of the game with point just before the referee blew the final whistle. The full time score, Kildangan 6-9 to Ellistown's 3-7.
All players put in a tremendous shift this evening and as a result, the Greens now go on to face Grangenolvin in the final on Sunday in Hawkfield.
