19th February 2012 Cúchulainn Gaels Under 14’s had their first outing of the year on Sunday morning with a 9:06 to 00:2 win over a depleted Kilcullen side at Athgarvan. The opening quarter was close with both sides swapping scores and Gaels goalkeeper Daniel Cawley forced into a great double save to prevent a Kilcullen goal. However, Luke Barry, Jordan Kaye, Josh Clinton and Ryan Moran began to dominate their positions and the Gaels took control.
Points from JB Murphy and Robert McGrath put the Gaels in front and a brace of goals from Cormac O’Mahoney and another from Robert McGrath put the Gaels into a commanding 3.6 to 0.2 half time lead.
The second half descended into a bit of the farce as Kilcullen heads dropped and the Gaels forged ahead with goals from Josh Clinton, Cormac O’Mahoney and Stephen Keogh to record an emphatic victory.
Round Towers are the opposition next Sunday as the Féile commences. Having beaten the Kildare town side in last year’s under 13 league, the Gaels will enter this game with confidence but can expect a stern test.
