File Server Access - Windows

You have 2 folders to connect to

1) Your personal folder - This is private from other lab members, but Ali can access it

2) Public folder - This is accessible to all lab members with logins on the file server

Connect to your private folder on the File Server (no one else can access this folder but you and Ali)

    1. To access your home folder, login to the Partners network.

    2. Right click on "My Computer"

    3. Click "Disconnect Network Drive" (if it shows any drives delete them. This will not delete data on your computer)

    4. Click "Map Network Drive"

    5. Folder : \\132.183.241.116\username - this is generally the first letter of your first name plus your last name. Make sure the "\\" and "\" are in the right direction

    6. click Reconect at logon

    7. click on Connect using a different user name

    8. enter you user name and password

    9. click Finish

    10. Add folders - Data, Papers and Lab Book. Keep your data, papers and PDF copies of your lab book pages in here. Feel free to add other folders you like.

    11. Remember to regularly back up all data that is on your laptop or memory keys etc

Connect to your public folder on the File Server

    1. Right click on "My Computer"

    2. Click "Map Network Drive"

    3. Folder : \\132.183.241.116\public

  1. click Reconect at logon

    1. click on Connect using a different user name

    2. enter you user name and password

    3. click Finish

Your "network folders" will show up and act just like a hard drive on your computer. Every time you come to the lab it will automatically connect. You may have to re-enter your password.
