Development history
After the 29th generation of human colonization a replacement for Grand Arms Jagdpanzer had not been developed. This was due to the versatile nature of Jagdpanzer’s weapon systems as well as its overall performance. With the advent of more advance technology a more advance unit could hopefully be made to replace Jagdpanzer. Grand Arms manufacturing corporation the original developer of the Grand Arms series decided to begin the Fury project. This project would lead to the development of Grand Arms Fury a very advance but complicated unit. Even though 4 prototypes were made only 1 suitable pilot could be found. This was due to the unit’s complicated systems and the need for a strong psychic to pilot it. An obvious failure because only one pilot could really pilot Fury. With this failure the Grand Arms manufacturing corporation fractured due to eternal strife between bureau designers. Thus 2 different companies were formed from the pieces of the once large company. Assault Arms manufacturing, and Tactical Arms manufacturing were these two companies. Now in the 35th generation of colonization the two companies have come to face against each other. To fairly see which company has produced the superior mecha (and to not bring out a destructive war) they have decided to enter their design into the MMFT (one at a time). The highest-ranking design will then become the principal mecha of the Terran Defence Force while the losing design will be dismantled.
Assault Arms entry is called Valkarius, after the planet it was developed on. This company follows the philosophy of a quick devastating assault, which will eliminate all the enemies in one pass. The long drawn out fights of the past require a mecha with a large weapon load as well as the space to store extra ordinances. This takes up precious space, which could be used for thrusters or larger weapons. Instead of focusing on many weapons, the emphasis was put on fewer but stronger weapons. Drawing inspiration from past designs such as Grand Arms Phoenix and Schneider, a Valkriye frame was chosen as the principal frame. This frame is optimized for speed and not ordnance carrying, thus the final mecha would be fast and exceedingly agile. Only a real trial by fire would see if Assault Arm’s design philosophy would hold.
Weapon application
Ranged: All the ranged weapons main function is to deliver the first devastating punch to the enemy. With the enemy crippled Valkarius would then fly in and finish the enemy quickly with it’s deadly close in weapons. Thus all the ranged weapons were optimized to spread damage across a wide an area as possible. Accuracy was really not put into the equation. Since most fights end up in a close in situation the ranged weapons (except for the Giga homing beam launcher) could all be ejected to lighten the already light mecha. The Giga homing beam launcher is the only weapon optimized for accuracy. This launcher was developed from the homing energy missile system and Jagd beam on the Jagdpanzer. It was perfected on the Fury and then put on the Valkarius. 1 beam is enough to heavily damage if not destroy most enemies. Unfortunately the tracking systems on the Valkarius are unable to lock onto anymore then 2 targets. Therefore the devastating attack of 3 beams are directed against a single target, overkill for most application but perfect for the Valkarius, considering the ferocity of this unit.
Close in: The Valkarius Spear is based off the ancient Chinese weapon the Bandit Knife. This weapon is small enough to be used with one hand agile but could be held in both hand and be used as a devastating pole arm. The shaft of the spear mounted a small beam gun. This was used for some extra close in punch. It could also discharge all its energy in one shot producing a devastating shotgun like blast. Lastly the beam gun could be ejected off in order to lighten the weapon. The blade was made of the nearly indestructible Kampfer crystal, making this spear capable of slicing thru most mechs in one slice.
Psychic: The real devastating power of the Valkarius lied in these weapons. Most of the computing power of the mecha was put into guiding and articulating these weapons. Unlike Grand Arms Fury which tried to split its computing power between systems (which lead to its complications) all the computing power was made to make this mech one of the most devastating psychic mechas made. The pilot must be used partially as a remote processing unit (like the Fury) but is helped by the onboard computers. This means that ranged controlled faust attacks could be easily performed. The Schwertzfaust and einhander variant could be used as hand held weapons, but when guided as faust they could attack enemies at blinding fast speed. By using advance gravitronic and antigav technology the faust could be manipulated to emulate the fighting style of the pilot as they attacked the enemies. In battle it would look like an invisible swordsman was yielding these weapons. Not only this but both of these faust could open up to be used as a giant beam blade. The range of these weapons was therefore extended and could slice thru multiple enemies at the same time. Lastly the Schwertz fausts also functioned as powerful beam cannons and were capable of giving Valkarius some devastating long-range punch. The Maiden Sutras were an iteration of the Jagdfist. Now instead of a heated wire a beam energy reinforced wire was used. This made the wires as deadly as a beam sabre and when arranged into such patterns such as: Heavenly maiden net, huntress trap, and many others an effective shield or devastating attack pattern could be made. The ends of the Sutras were small gem like projectiles, which were nearly indestructible. They could be flown at high speeds quickly bring down even the toughest enemy in a fury of concentrated hits by the 4 Sutras.
Defensive: The Antifaust turrets spewed out a massive spray of energy. This was capable of cancelling out 50 percent of incoming faust or missiles. The turrets were only capable of destroying lightly armed unshielded faust but these faust were also the most common. Any heavier fasut could be handled by the Sutras and a protective pattern.
Beam Nullification Field: This barrier nullified most beam blast directed at the Valkarius. The only exception to this barrier was the force of the directed energy determined if the beams were nullified not the amount shot at the Valkarius. Therefore massive blast of energies, which were weak, would all be nullified. However high energy shots would pass thru the barrier. Another exception was magnetically shielded beams such as the ones launched by the Giga homing beam launchers. Against most enemies however this field made the Valkarius nearly untouchable.
Projectile nullification Field: This field nullified most projectiles fired at Valkarius. The exception to this was the mass of the projectile not the amount fired at Valkarius. The mass that would be nullified had to be less than 5 kilograms. Anything more and the projectile would pass thru the barrier. This meant that most faust and missiles would pass thru. On a side note if the field were tuned to nullify anything over 5 kilograms then the field would start to nullify the mecha projecting the field. In most circumstances however this field made Valkarius immune to most projectiles fired at it.
Ambrosia enhancement: This enhancement was originally developed to be anti-beam armour. However instead of reflecting 100 percent of the energy it could only reflect 50 percent of the energy. It was only one designers desire to make such an armour which was completely beam resistant but this is physically impossible. Nothing in real life is indestructible or completely resistant to conditions. However despite these limitations this armour enhancement made Valkarius extremely tough to damage. The Ambrosia is a tough surface treatment on top of a Grand Armian variant Jagd base. The surface is highly reflective and is a characteristic gold colour. With all the fields and magnetic torroid barrier plus the Ambrosia enhanced armour this made the Valkarius nearly untouchable in combat. Only a wily or powerful opponent could have a chance to bring down Valkarius. The fausts were also coated in Ambrosia making them more capable of flying thru beam fire and to some extent capable of blocking beam blades.
Goddess Boost System: This system temporarily boosted the performance of the already high performing Valkarius. There were only 2 things negative to note about this system. First it required the pilot to enter a highly emotional berserker like state. This would drain the pilot of all energy to pilot after the system was activated. The pilot wouldn’t die but they would need at least a day to recuperate their energy. Secondly the system could only last as long as the pilot could handle it. For a standard pilot this was only for about 2 seconds. The characteristic blue “feathers” aura tell when the system is activated. The feathers are actually a means of cooling the systems as the Goddess system boosts all of Vakarius’ systems.
Pilot History
Shaye is a decendent of Japanese- European heritage. She is also a descendent of both the pilot of Grand Arms Faust and Chrono. This makes her one of the strongest psychic alive. It is known fact that psychic ability is inherited genetically. Piloting skill is another matter entirely. Even though Shaye is a strong psychic her piloting skills are under the levels of most average pilots. Fortunately all females on Valkarius are trained under the strict warrior codes handed down by their Amazon like ancestors. Valkarius is now a more open society and males can enter the planet, but the warrior traditions have not died. The spear and sword are the common weapons most Valkarius females are trained in. An important point Assault Arms took note of when designing Valkarius. This means Shaye is already highly adept at using the hand-to-hand weapons on the Valkarius. Shaye was chosen on a similar basis as the pilot of Fury, the candidates were thrown into the mecha and if they survived piloting it they would then be chosen to pilot it. The Valkarius is a mecha, which chooses its own pilot. Shaye is slowly gaining proficiency in piloting Valkarius but only time will tell if she can fully bring out the potential of Valkarius.
On a side note only 20 percent of current Grand Arms pilot can pilot Valkarius effectively. Meaning only a small number of Valkarius can be integrated into the Terran Defence force.
