Hayabusa equipment
Even the heavily armed Hayabusa could get some help in the weapons department. Many of these upgrades definitely pushed the envelope for how heavy a weapon a fighter could carry.
Weapon pods
Taking advantage of the heavier hardpoints on the Hayabusa some weapon pods could be double stacked (2 weapon pods on one hardpoint).
(Left to right)
Hard points taken up: 1
Double stackable: yes
Designation: Medium Nano-missile pod
Nickname: Big Skittle package
Containing 15 nano-missile tubes this weapon pod could unleash a very large amount of explosives.
Hard points taken up: 2
Double stackable: No
Designation: Large Nano-missile package
Nickname: Enormous Skittle package
This missile pod unfolded itself to unleash as many missiles over a wide area. Having a scary amount of nano-missiles an equipped Hayabusa could single handily take out several squadrons of fighters.
Hard points taken up: 1
Double stackable: No
Designation: 45 mm gatling gun cluster
Nickname: pepper pot
Not much to be said other then more lead flying around then could be avoided. The calibre was a little light but definitely some more lead.
Hard points taken up: 1
Double stackable: No
Designation: Fast firing 100 mm plasma laser
Nickname: Hyper fryer
A very fast firing (4 shots a second) fryer. Not much else going for it but some more rapid firing punch.
Hard points taken up: 1
Double stackable: No
Designation: EMP gun
Nickname: Shocker
A very short-range though wide area (due to the electric arc) of effect weapon. Fired a powerful EMP, which could shut down the enemy if they weren’t properly shielded. A nice little weapon to add some surprise to the Hayabusa arsenal.
Hard points taken up: 2 (must counter balance with 1 pod on each side)
Double stackable: No
Designation: Speed enhancing booster
Nickname: clockupper
Overdrive boosters, which could boost the Hayabusa’s speed by 5 mach. Good for pilots who wanted even more speed.
Hard points taken up: 1
Double stackable: No
Designation: Guided dual plasma laser pod
Nickname: Flying fryer
This weapon pod could be used as a straightforward gun pod or it could be set to two different logics: Mine logic and Missile logic. Mine logic had the pod ejected off the Haybusa and left stationary in space. Any enemy, which came across the sensors of the weapon pod, would be fired on. This was good for pilots who needed to leave a little surprise for the enemy as they were forced to retreat. Missile logic made the pod into a missile, which would follow a designated enemy and fire upon them until it ran out of ammo; it would then crash into the enemy like a normal missile. Unfortunately the pilot could only set the logic once and after that it would perform it’s function and then be used.
Hard points taken up: 1
Double stackable: No
Designation: Guided dual 45 mm gatling pod
Nickname: Flying pepper shaker
A 45 mm gatling version of the guided weapon pod.
Hard points taken up: 1
Double stackable: No
Designation: Guided nano-missile pod
Nickname: Flying skittle dispenser
Nano-missile version of the guided pod
Hard points taken up: 1
Double stackable: yes
Designation: Small bore bazooka
Nickname: small boomer
A small bazooka that added some explosive punch. Had a decent sized magazine and the added benefit that it could be double stacked. Not really liked due to its small punch but welcome equipment nonetheless.
Hard points taken up: 1
Double stackable: No
Designation: Large bore bazooka
Nickname: Big boomer
More heavier punch, more appreciated then its little brother.
Hard points taken up: 2
Double stackable: No
Designation: Mega bazooka pod
Nickname: Mega boomer
Armed with 2 even bigger bazookas and 1 45 mm gatling gun. This bazooka package definitely was mean to blow apart heavy enemies.
Shields
With most of a Hayabusa’s hardpoints occupied the next logical step was to equip the shield with some equipment. This meant a reduction in some cases for armouring but a definite increase for versatility.
(Left to right)
Designation: Damage asorbing reinforcement shield
Nickname: Security blanket
Another magnetic shield generator available for the Haybusa to use if the pilot so chooses to forgo another weapon shield. The protection offered by this shield raised the damage absorbing capability to a whole new level. Favoured by the “pansy” pilot who wanted to stay in a fight longer.
Designation: Recon enhancement shield
Nickname: Magic eye junior
Not as potent as a full recon package but gave an extra little punch to the sensors of the Hayabusa. Acted as a decent shield but one had to be careful about not getting the recon components hit. More widely accepted as a mandatory option then the full “Smoke and Mirror” recon package.
Designation: Light attack shield
Nickname: Baby Justifier
A shield with guns attached to it. More specifically 1 45 mm auto cannon and 2 110 mm plasma rocket launchers. Good for adding some extra punch and could be dual wielded (on in each hand) if a pilot wasn’t too keen about using the Hayabusa assault rifle.
Designation: Medium attack shield
Nickname: Justifier
The bigger brother to the light attack shield this one mounted a 60 mm gatling cannon, 1 multi tube nano-missile launcher and one 110 mm plasma rocket launcher. Also dual wieldable if the pilot liked some John Woo action.
Designation: Heavy attack shield
Nickname: Super Justifier
Not dual wieldable (size restricted movement which would mean a lot of clumsy shooting for the Hayabusa) but mounting some real serious weapons. It consisted of: 1 heavy plasma cannon, 1 60 mm gatling and multi tube nano-missile launcher. This was enough firepower to take down a heavy mech all by itself.
Designation: Mega attack shield
Nickname: Mega Justifier
Mach penalty: -5 mach
If the Super Justifer wasn’t enough then this big brute was the ultimate in the type of attack shield that could be carried. It was so large and heavy that a booster had to be part of the design to insure that the Hayabusa would have some decent speed. The weapon it carried were: 1 200 mm plasma laser, two 60 mm gatling, 1 multi tube nano-missile launcher, and three micro-missile pods. This was enough firepower in the shield alone to make some heavy mecha jealous. Favoured by the type of pilot who wanted all the guns he could carry.
Designation: Missile pod shield
Nickname: Candy store
If the onboard and mountable missile weapon pods weren’t enough then this bad boy could add even more missiles. This shield mounted: four 110 mm plasma rockets, 8 micro-missile launchers, one multi tube nano missile launchers, and 2 manuvering micro missile pod (10 micro-missiles each). Though not having the same amount of missile carnage as a “Hell nest” it was still good enough to send most fighter squadrons running the other way.
Designation: Close combat shield
Nickname: Stag beetle crusher
Mounting crushing jaws, retractable chain saw, several beam sabers and a blade catcher, this shield was the swiss army knife of melee weapons. This shield was a very decent hand-to-hand combat weapon and was more widely used then the “weapon coffin”. Finally an option that made the Haybusa a brawler.
Hand weapons
Even the versatile assault rifle of the Hayabusa could end up being inappropriate for some situations. To rectify this situation the Ares scientist created some other rilfes and gun options, which could supplement the main rifle or replace it altogether. As long as the pilot was willing to forgo a shield they could dual wield some of these weapons in combination with each other or with the main rifle.
Designation: Rail assault rifle w/ under slung beam shotgun
Nickname: Super needler
dual wield: Yes
Sometimes rapid firing shots were more important then the actual stopping power of a gun. When this was the case nothing could spit out lead faster then this gun. Firing at a blistering 40 rounds this gun could chew thru most targets. Being a rail gun more ammunition could be carried then a regular chemical rifle (enough for 30 seconds of fire). If some punch was needed a 5 shot beam shot gun was under slung.
Designation: Beam sub machine gun w/ underslung grenade cannon
Nickname: Punisher special
dual wield: Yes
The beam equivalent to the Super needler, this gun was used for the same reasons. It was more destructive however thanks to the more powerful underslung grenade cannon.
Designation: Space use rapid firing anti-ship plasma cannon
Nickname: Hyper buster fryer
dual wield: No
Hands used: 2
This massivly huge cannon had two firing options. Either it could fire rapid firing (6 shots a second) mech destroying shots, or if could fire a chargeable (2 seconds to charge) capital ship piercing shot. In addition to this it also had 4 nano-missile launchers. Some would say this was too much firepower… They were obviously crazy.
Designation: Dual battle lancer
Nickname: Excalibur
dual wield: No
Hands used: 1
This weapon was an attempt to make another all round main weapon for the Hayabusa. So effective was the design that close to 50% of Haybusa pilots choose this over the main assault rifle. It came equipped with: 2 beam sub machine guns, one large induction beam cannon, and 2 beam rods. The beam sub machine guns were used for their rapid firing capabilities to weaken or destroy light mechs. The induction beam cannon could fire rapid (3 shots a second) mech destroying shots, or it could charge up (1.5 seconds) and fire a blast equivalent to a Viggen class plasma cannon, or finally it could act as a giant beam blade. The two beam rods stored on the tips of the weapon were used for real close combat when it wasn’t prudent to generate a beam saber. If this wasn’t enough the Dual lancer could split into two smaller single lancers and had to be carried one in each hand. The induction beam cannon was subsequently reduced in power by 50 percent but the firing rate was doubled (measuring from one lancer not both, so the firing rate is actually quadrupled if counting both). The bad side to all this awesomeness… no physical projectiles!
Designation: Space use Dreadnaught class plasma cannon
Nickname: The twins
dual wield: No
Hands used: 2
Mach penalty: -8
This was the biggest gun that could be carried by the Hayabusa. Together the guns took 3 seconds to charge and fired a blast that could destroy several capital ships. Split up they could fire a Viggen equivalent blast every second. The Hayabusa could barley lift these guns and they were hard to move around to fire. Only used by pilots who had something to prove or were compensating for something.
