Made to launch as many fighters out as fast as possible the Scorpion-ray was an amazing ship. Equipped with a 1C mass driver as its main weapon, it could destroy a large city in one blow never mind another capital ship. Only the toughest of Grand Alliance capital ships (Berserker and above) could stand more then one hit from this weapon. The only good thing going for the Grand alliance forces was that this weapon took 5 minutes to charge. The .1C back up mass drivers could rip apart anything lighter then a Dragoon class capital ship. The .00001 C mass driver clusters could deal with any light fighters that dare to get close. With a full complement of 1000 fighters and 200 ground troops, this ship was a one-unit invasion force. If this was not enough this ship was also like the small crafts it carried capable of entering and acting in an atmosphere.
The two biggest flaws for this unit were the energy requirements and the lack of durability. Almost all Golden Hemogeny ships and fighter relied on powerful batteries to store the energy for operation. This meant that they periodically had to dock at a starport and refuel. On top of using the energy for drives and weapons, the Scorpion-ray also had to use energy to charge up fighters and maintain the clones in stasis. Of course a ship of such a small size would find it impossible to quarter all those clones. Gold Conqueror solved this problem long ago by making all clones be suspended in stasis in their fighters or stasis racks. The battle armour the clones wore was also part stasis chamber. The stasis fuel and food were synthesised by an amazing invention of Gold Conqueror: an energy to matter converter. Though useful for supplying almost any material need of an army it was very energy draining. 4 equivalent energy kilograms needed to be used to create 1 kg of matter be this a mass driver ammunition or a kg of stasis fuel. So while the ship could be self-sufficient it was all dependants on the energy available. This carrier usually could serve up to a week of straight combat before it had to withdraw to refuel. Durability wise one shot from a heavy mecha’s anti capital ship weapon could down this large carrier. A squad of properly equipped Hayabusas could tear thru a small fleet worth of these carriers. Unfortunately for the Grand Alliance there tended to be many hundreds of these ships in any given fleet.
