Savannah

The Savannah

In the central southern region of Ariath lies the Savannah, a lush, rolling grassland home to flora not found anywhere else in the world. There are few permanent settlements here; most are nothing more than trading outposts along common travel routes. It is a wild place, without the ever-changing nature of the Trackless Wood.

For those folk skilled in travel and in the ways of woodcraft and herbology, the Savannah provides a land rich in resources, doubly so for those that offer their services as guides and trackers to those Folk not as well suited to the wild places, especially for those that wish to treat successfully with any nomads they may encounter.

A large number of those beasts that chose to forgo the gift of speech make their home here, which makes the Savannah sometimes cause unease for those beast-natured Folk who made a different choice. Others find a wild pull from the Savannah, and travel there to reflect on their choices and those of their brethren.

The diverse nature of the flora and fauna of the Savannah has shifted the habitat in some areas. Scholars and other naturists debate the causality, though whether the land shaped the inhabitants or the inhabitants the land; there are groves, caves, oases, and other places of natural wonder to discover for those willing to brave the terrain to explore.

People of the Savannah

Life in the Savannah does not lend itself particularly well to staying in one place for long stretches. The floral resources change over time and the fauna move with it. Those Folk that live in the Savannah adopt a nomadic way of life that follows these rhythms, and over time have formed groups that move with the cycling resources. In general, these groups are varied in size and in the composition of Folk within them, though the Savannah made an attractive home to those Caramahz banded together in smaller groups.
