"What’s being a soldier?

"I had this range officer back in basic that LOVED war movies. He would not shut up about them. I swear he could quote Full Metal Jacket end to end; yeah, even the crappy second half no one watches.

"I asked him once what he liked about them so bad. He told me that what all those movies had in common wasn’t the wars, it was the men in them. That being a soldier was about being a part of something bigger than yourself, and embodying the physical will of a country.

"It was hero worshiping bullshit, basically. He was big into the comradery, not so much in the examination of what soldiers really do. He was right about one thing though: beliefs need backing.

"Best advice he ever gave me? Squeeze the trigger, don’t pull it. Now come on, let’s get this done."

Soldier Skills

Modern Warfare 0 CP

You gain Fire as an attack trait, and Weapon as an attack trait for melee and missile attacks. You gain Explosion, Light, Ammo, and Medicine as flavor traits.

Heroic Critical Shot 2 CP (Once per event)

A missile or firearms attack for “4 damage by [attack trait.]”

Heroic Critical Shot 2 CP (Once per event)

A missile or firearms attack for “4 damage by [attack trait.]”

Firearm Method 5 CP

(Prerequisite: Firearms)

Your ranged powers take the form of attacks delivered with a firearm, rather than packet attacks. In addition, if you have the skill Arsenal you may deliver your Arsenal attacks with a firearm as well. You may not use packets to deliver your powers unless you know another Method that allows it.

To use touch-ranged powers, hold your firearm or another character-appropriate tool in one hand, and use the other hand to touch the recipient with a packet, since touching other players with a gun prop might cause safety issues.

Equipment Method: Soldier’s Loadout 2 CP

You use grenades, tools, and pouches of medical supplies to perform your powers. You should roleplay as though you are using them to perform effects. When you use a power, add “With this (item name)” to the beginning of the effect call.

Gunnery 2 CP

You may deliver damaging melee attacks from your Warrior or Skirmisher training with a firearm.

Burst Fire 2 CP (Once per event)

Add “Double” to the effect call of a single use of a firearms attack with a damage effect.

Full Auto 3 CP (Once per event)

Add “Triple” to the effect call of a single use of a firearms attack with a damage effect.

Empty the Clip 3 CP

(Requires 3 skills in this theme.)

You gain Weapon as an attack trait for Firearms attacks.

Spare Ammo 2 CP (Once per battle)

(Requires 3 skills in this theme.)

Two firearms attacks for “2 damage by [attack trait.]” If you have the Arsenal skill and Firearms Method, you instead add two points to your Arsenal pool.

Reload 4 CP (Once per event)

(Requires 5 skills in this theme.)

Once per event, focus for one minute, reloading and rearming, to recover all uses of your “per battle” skills.

Assault Weapons Specialist [Epic]

Requires: Full Auto

Your Full Auto skill only works on attacks that cause 5 points of damage or less. Full Auto now also costs a point of Endurance when used. (This cost may not be made Effortless.) However, you may now use it once per battle, rather than once per event.

Sniper [Epic] (Once per event)

Once per event you may point a firearms prop at a target, and call “By my gesture, 10 damage by (attack trait.)”
