"When first I met Ms. Hornsby, whom I now call my wife, we had more than a minor argument. It was over the terminology of chemistry, versus the infinitely more familiar alchemy. In her native world, Ms. Hornsby, a "chemist," had committed herself to the rather strange pursuit of "environmentally sustainable perfumery." Here in Ariath, I practice the preventative application of alchemical substances to weaponry.

"Both of us, at the time, were convinced of the superiority of our respective terminologies. It was a rather encompassing argument that has lasted us well through the first year of our marriage. Though we now jointly own "Hornsby and Broadwater's Perfumes and Other Alchemicals," I still find, from time to time, that my wife has scratched out, on our storefront sign, the first two letters of the last word. Such vandalism does not, I promise, change the quality of our products. In fact, it should perhaps guarantee the stubborn deadliness of my wife's wares.

Field Laboratory 0 CP

You gain Poison and Fire as attack traits, and Alchemy, Medicine, Acid, Venom, and Explosion as flavor traits.

Heroic First Circle Power Use 1 CP (Once per event)

Once per event you may use a First Circle power from any list you know.

Extra Venom 2 CP (Once per event)

A melee, missile, or packet attack for “4 damage by [attack trait.]”

Equipment Method: Alchemy 2 CP

You use potions, globes of poison, blade venoms, and other natural craft supplies to perform your powers. You should carry appropriate props, and roleplay as though you are using them to perform touch delivered effects. To use packet delivered powers, touch a packet to one of your tools, such as a vial or alchemy bag, before performing the effect call and throwing.

Delicate Preparations 2 CP

You know how to prepare chemicals in glass globes, syringes, or other means that makes them easy to deliver quickly in crisis situations. You may use touch- and packet-delivered powers with a melee weapon or buckler in your off hand, and may even use touch delivered powers with a full sized shield or missile weapon in your off hand.

Bane of the Formless 3 CP

You know how to mix powders and chemicals to eat away at the bodies of slimes and oozes. You may change the attack trait of any of your called attacks to “To Formless.”

Conditioned Resistance 3 CP (Once per battle, 1 endurance)

Once per battle, call out “Resist” to negate an attack with a Metabolic Trait.

Curative Draught 2 CP (Once per battle)

Once per battle you may touch yourself or an ally and call “Cure Metabolic by Alchemy.”

Apply Venom 2 CP

(Requires 3 skills in this theme.)

You may apply alchemical blade venoms to other people’s weapons. Roleplay with one of their weapons for ten seconds, touch the recipient with a packet, and say the Grant call written on the item tag for the blade venom. You may only apply a venom to a given person’s weapon once per event.

In addition, you may apply blade venoms to your own weapons without limit. If you choose, you may apply them to your own missile weapons instead; change the Grant call on the item tag from “Grant Melee Attack” to “Grant Missile Attack.”

Always in Stock 2 CP (Once per battle)

You keep small amounts of certain useful chemicals on hand at all times. When you take this skill, choose either Arsenal, Healing, or Flurry:

Arsenal: You gain two melee or packet attacks for “2 damage by [Attack trait.]” If you have the skill Arsenal, this instead increases your arsenal pool by 2.

Healing: You gain two uses of a touch effect for “Heal 2 by [Flavor Trait.]” If you have the skill Aura of Healing, this instead adds two uses to your Aura of Healing pool.

Flurry: You gain two melee attacks for "2 damage by [Attack Trait.]"

Resuscitate 5 CP

(Requires 5 skills in this theme.)

Once per event, touch a dead ally and call “Cure Death and Drain by [Flavor Trait.]”

Potent Venom [Epic]

Twice per event, when you use a crafted Alchemy product, or an attack you have Granted yourself with one, you may omit the "Short" descriptor from the effect.

Preventative Chemistry [Epic]

Call “Shield” to the first attack that strikes you that has a Metabolic trait. You may refresh this ability with one minute of rest. In addition, called Metabolic damage causes you to fall stable rather than unstable.

Alchemy 2 CP

You can combine plant components to create chemical or alchemical substances with useful effects. This skill may be purchased up to three times; each level allows you to construct more advanced products. See the rules section on Crafting for further information.
